As per Notice circulated to all members, the Annual General Body Meeting of the RIEA, Chennai started its proceedings around 10.30 am on Tuesday at the spacious air conditioned auditorium of the Towers Club, Annanagar, Chennai 600040, amidst morning rains & drizzling outside. *The proceedings started in good earnest after lighting the 'kuthuvilakku" (lamp) in the traditional way. Thereafter , the dignitaries were called to the dais, one by one, by Sri V Ravichandran Development Officer. The dignitaries were honoured with a shawl by our Divisional activists. The Prayer song was sung by Sri D Gnanadas Development officer. Welcome address was done by Sri D Thalakkiah to welcome our All-India leaders, Divisional leaders and all the participants of the meeting. ,all activists,TaskForce Members who phoned members to attend, & Volunteers ,Reception Counters, who ensured good attendance and all the members for their enthusiastic participation. In his welcome address, he traced the growth of RIEA, Chennai in numbers and the active participation in redressing the grievances of the pensioners.
* ShriS.S.Saxena, Chief Guest & President, AIRIEF, Bhopal & Other distinguished dignitaries on the dais were Shri G. Krishnaswami, General Secretary, AIRIEF, Shri Ranjan Dey Sarkar,Deputy General Secretary,AIRIEF, Shri B. Angurajan, Organising Secretary,AIRIEF,Shri Jayaprakash, Treasurer, AIRIEF, Shri D. Thalakkiah,Secretary,RIEA, ChennaiShri V. Sitaraman, and Shri K.R. Ramani, Founder Member, RIEA, Chennai
* Then, Shri R.B. Kishore made obituary references of great Union leaders,many LIC Chairmen,Founders, VP,AIRIEF Sri M.P.Subramaniam who all loved,admired for his tenacity at age 85,neutral umpire, and other honourable members who toiled for the sake of pensioners.
*As requested by Shri D. Thalakkiah all the members stood up and observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect.
* There upon, Shri Kishoreji read out the Tribute by way of a SCROLL of HONOUR written in appealing English of the contributions made by the Founding Fathers. On Shri Thalakkiah reading out the names of RBKishore and Shri KRRamani, the Chief Guest, ShriSS Saxena presented to them a Beautiful Memento inscribing those words ,on top Fluttering AIRIEF Flag devised byBhopal in 1 & 2 October 2018 General Council of AIRIEF. The other 2 were Sri GVSMani & Sri RKannan.*Honouring SuperSr Citizens aged 80 & above with a shawl,power torch & a pouch was taken up & completed.All could notice the glow in their hearts with a warm handshake.
*Then Shri Kishoreji, as President, RIEA, Chennai Unit, delivered his address. In his inspiring speech , among other things, he sounded the bugle for march towards Silver Jubilee on 8th August 2023;called for broadening of mind; stressed the significance of website airiefvision.wordpress.com. He explained how in marketing and management 1+1 =3,due to synergy. In his own inimitable style, exhorted not only the office bearers but even the rank and file to do ordinary things in an extraordinary manner;as the difference between ordinary & extraordinary is only that little extra.He advised us to emulate late Sri N.S.Laxman,ZM in creative, forward thinking and vision.He nostalgically recalled the Busy as a Bee plan,strategy to enrol 100 & more in a year & that was achieved with fervour,fup,appeals,phone calls,different Lists of pensioners ,even Alphabetical,60-70,70-80 ,80 & above prepared by Sri BAngurajan who virtually shouldered heavy commitment with dear MPS.
He expressed hope that judiciary would show greater and sympathetic understanding to our issues,with a professional,updated SLP covering all Constitutional Principles,& Legal Study Group headed by veteran Sri MPAgnihotri & others coalescing well with an eye on victory ,after SCVacation,presumably on 15/7/2022. We should not fall a prey to Prospective PU,which has wrecked RBI pensioners,considerable arrears lost,a low Multiplier factor & Family Pensioners totally omitted.
He brought to the attention of the audience how there was a change of heart in our Honourable Union Finance Minister who ,during IBA ceremony of wage finalisation ,wanted earlier Group pensioners drawing low pension to be fitted in latest same grade ,same scale .She added Family Pensioners are getting a pittance & so their lot also will be improved
He called for every member to be a COMMUNICATION CRUSADER . He also gave a call for a generous donation towards legal fund.Thereafter, Birthday Greetings for those members,2, whose birthday fell on that day were read out in Tamil and English.
*Secretary Report of the activities & total performance upto the period ending 31March 2022 was placed before the general body by our patron R B Kishore, due to the demise of Sri K Chandrasekar, and it was duly approved by the members.*The statement of Accounts for the period ending 31 March 2022 & duly audited & certified by our Auditor , was place by Sri V Sitaraman& after few clarifications, the Receipt & Payments Account was accepted by the general body.
* In his special address, the Chief Guest, Shri SS Saxena congratulated the RIEA, Chennai team for the conduct of the GB meeting in a grand manner with a large gathering. He, in particular, praised head and heart of the Patron Kishoreji who dedicated himself for the upliftment of the LIC pensioners and their welfare.He stressed the need for Youth-old combine to energise all RIEAs to demonstrate new spirit,teamwork,more of social service items to society,& with Elders & Seniors experience can galvanise the parent AIRIEF by rich variety of contribution.He admired all the creative elements right from start 20/24 Exhibits proving grand Journey of AIRIEF celebrating 25 years Silver Jubilee ,long way from 5/12/1996 toNow ..Founders Scroll of Honour Memento was excellent.So too AIRIEF ANTHEM in English & Tamil readout serves patriotic spirit enabling every Member to contribute in one way or the other.
*The All India General Secretary, Shri G. Krishnaswami in his own style, got down the stage and mingled with the members provoking them to ask for their doubts with regard to pension updation, family pension and the status of the Court cases. He also patiently clarified all their doubts to their satisfaction.*Sri Ranjan Dey Sarkar,Dy GS congratulated all the organisers for a memorable GBM with clickclock precision,Chennai always itches to pave way for growth & set examples,He was confident the New Team will work together & create history in the days to come.He commended the massive 30 & more New Entrants who were also honoured on this auspicious occasion.
*Shri Jayaprakash, All India Treasurer gave an account of the financial contributions from the RIEA, Chennai Unit including the legal fund.He mentioned data of growing strength from23,74,110,149,172,220 259,274,320,340,360 .With a mighty metro competition by many Pensioners Fedns,it is really hard work & sound planning which created this success story in many spheres of activity.
*Shri B. Angurajan, the All India Organising Secretary from Madurai appreciated the spirit of the Chennai RIEA in which it is functioning and wished them all well, particularly the newly elected team.*RIEA Thanjavur Secretary Sri Ramaiya Moorty and RIEA Vellore Secretary Sri P Subramaniyam also spoken in the August gathering.
** Our patron R B Kishore,with VSitaraman, SGandhi,DThalakkiah handed over Rs 1,20,000/- cheque representing Rs1lakh to LFD, Rs20,000 as Affiliation Fee @Rs50 for a record 400Members to Sri SSSaxena,GKrishnaswamy ,VJayaprakash ,RanjkanDerySarkar & BAngurajan
* Thereafter, Sri D Thalakkiah announced the proposed list of office bearers and EC members from all classes for the current term. The house unanimously accepted the proposal.

*The last agenda of the meeting was honouring the New members from all classes, nearly 33 members were honoured in the meeting in the presence of All-India leaders. Sumptuous, delicious lunch was provided to all our participants.*Vote of Thanks was given by Sri K Anbazhagan. He thanked the All-India Leaders, Divisional leaders and the participants and the RIEA Core Team which was solely responsible for the success of the GBM. The meeting came to an end by 4 pm with National Anthem.
