All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is all set to link the online registration of its outpatient department (OPD) to the patient’s Aadhaar card which they hope will provide faster and accurate ‘transaction’.
“The programme is currently running on a trial basis and will take another 10-15 days to be enforced. We are presently asking people who have Aadhaar card to register with it and are getting feed back on it. This will help us iron-out any problems and ensure that after it is brought in patients and hospital authorities face no problem,’’ said a senior AIIMS official.
Last year AIIMS had brought in the ‘IVR-Based appointment system’ – which eliminated the need for long waiting time for registration for OPD and reduced human interaction which was required to book an appointment.
“The facility allowed patients to use their mobile phone and book an appointment from anywhere in the country. Patients with UHID (Unique Health Identification number) would be able to make appointments by simply logging in and selecting the department and doctor they wanted to see,’’ noted the official.
