I have gone through the mail of Shri M S Sachdeva. My sad experience is such expressions of disappointment on the lack of unity among various groups of pensioners is used mostly by people disinclined to contribute towards the legal fund. Spreading news of assumed infight among the case managers depresses and demoralises the pensioners.Such divine advisories should be better avoided. No body can belittle the benefits of a United action to achieve a common goal. But such ideal situations don't happen generally in real life.Lot of unsuccessful efforts have been made in the past to bring about some semblance of unity..And,we all have learnt with the experience. The Chandigarh petition was filed by a Vice President of the AIRIEF with support and blessings of the Federation leadership. We expected the Federation to support us in the Supreme Court. They declined because they could not displease a person on whom they had invested lacs of rupees. As simple as that.We have no bitterness for anyone and will manage our case as best as we can. The Hyderabad unit walked out of the GNS group because the later had demanded only rationalisation of DR for the pre Aug 97 retirees. Now, he has requested for updation of pension also in his amended writ there has been some attempt by Mr Murty to bridge the gap between he two groups..Meanwhile,Mr Murty is vigorously engaged with his advocate not to belittle GNS but on how best to achieve the twin benefits for the retirees. The arrival of AIIPA into the legal arena is a welcome step. They have vast resources and traditional rivalry with AIRIEF.Hopefully they will keep each othert alert. As for commonality of the objects,I shall like to remind Shri Sachdeva that every Trade Union swears by the welfare of its constituents ,then why so many trade unions in one industry? Have the employees suffered because of multiplicity of unions in the LIC? Let us not go to the monkey cats stories for wisdom. It is a fact that no two intelligent persons always agree on the same issue. No harm if they are sincere to their mission in hand. The case managers are in the lime light and being watched very minutely..Only the honest will survive. Let us have faith and not spread negative ideas. By the way, only two persons from Karnal have contributed to our legal fund. One is Mr MS Sachdeva. S N Chhabra
