Reliance Jio today announced the launch of its much rumoured 4G feature phone, which is named as JioPhone. Along with that the telco has announced its cable TV device.
At the AGM meet, Mukesh Ambani said that voice calling will always be free for Jio customers. He said that Jio services will be integrated with all e-commerce players.
The JioPhone will be available for free but
buyers will have to deposit a fee of Rs 1500 which will be refundable
after three years. This means the phone will be available at an
effective price of zero.
The phone was launched at the 40th AGM meet of
RIL. JioPhone will be available for beta testing this 15th August,
while pre booking will start from 24th August; physically it will
available from September this year.
"It is made in India by the young Indian," Esha Ambani told announcing the launch of the phone.
Jio termed it as "India ka smartphone".
The feature phone comes preloaded with all Jio applications like Jio Cinema, Jio Music etc.
The phone comes with:
- Alpha numeric keypad
- FM radio
- Torch light
- Headphone jack
- SD card slot
- Four way navigation system
- Phone Contact
- Call History
- Jio Apps

users can avail the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer at just Rs 153 per month.
Under this they will get free voice and SMS as well as unlimited data.
Two sachets packs have also been announced - a Rs 54 with a vaility of a week and Rs 24 for two days.
Meanwhile, the company has launched a device
called Jio phone Cable TV at Rs 309 per month using which you can
connect the JioPhone with any TV and not just a smart TV. Users can opt
for Rs 309 that will allow them to watch video of their choice for 3-4
hours on large screen.
