Did You Know Indian Milestones Have Colour Code For Highways & Other Roads?

Milestones are a kind of stones that let us know how far our destination is, from a certain point! Not all Indian roads have the same millstones; the colour code varies for the national highway, state highway, district and village roads

Yellow & white milestone represents “National Highway – NH”

Green head on white background represents “State Highway – SH”

The blue or black & white represent “City or Major District Roads – MDR”

Lastly, the orange head with white base represents “Village/Rural Roads (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna Road) – VR”
