We have some good news!
The state of Karnataka has fully adopted DigiLocker for its transport department. Over 2.7 crore digital Driving Licenses (DL), Vehicle Registration Certificates (RC), Emission Certificates (EC) from the state are now available in DigiLocker. The Karnataka Transport Department has issued an official notification that documents from DigiLocker are valid under the Indian IT Act 2000 and will be treated at par with certificates issued by the department in the form of smartcard or paper form. This notification can be accesed at this link https://twitter.com/digilocker_ind/status/961533192200073216.
This means that if you are a resident of Karnataka, you can carry your transport documents in DigiLocker freely and show it to traffic policemen if they ask for it. Please see the advertisement to this effect, that the state government issued in leading newspapers recently.
