Reg :   Request to modify the Rule No. 54 Chapter IX LIC of India 

Employees Pension Rules 1995.

 

            We requested vide our letters dated 10/10/2017 & 20/12/2017 supported by GOI instruction Section II Part III personal claims of Government Servant to pay the Pension afternoon on the last working day of the month (Copies enclosed).

            We further requested vide E-mail on 20th, 26th & 27/02/2018 to release the Pension on 28/02/2018 before Holi Festival, since there was no working on 01st & 2nd March 2018 Holi Festival, 3rd& 4th March 2018 Saturday & Sunday, but the Pension released on

05/03/2018. Similarly is the instance of September end & Ist week of October'2017. So many such type of example will come in 2018 where the Pensioners will be deprived of the Pension on Ist of the month and nearby days afterwards. 

            In this regard Rule no. 54 of the Pension Rule has been cited to deny the payment on the last working day of the month. It appears the rule is loaded against the welfare of Pensioners. Rules should be made to help the pensioners and should be objective. Rules are not religious book which can not be touched, changed or amended.The present Rule no. 54 causes undue hardship to Pensioners. As such it requires modification to help the pensioners. We humbly suggest modification of the present Rule no. 54 to read as under :-

Rule no. 54:-              "A Pension    fixed at a monthly rate shall be payable monthly on the first day of the following month or before on the last working day of the month to which they relate in case office/bank are not open for transacting their respective ordinary business  on Ist day of following month."

                        Please give positive consideration looking to the large number of the Pensioners in their old age.
