Subject: My Comments - Seniors V/S Seniors by GNS
It was very interesting to read a post from our Seasoned Veteran Sh. G.N. Sridharan on your blog under the caption Seniors V/S Seniors. My Comments on this issue are as below.
The other day I had a chance to see a recent movie " 102 & Not Out " which starts with an opening scene of Amitabh Bachan playing a role of father at the age of 102 proposing to send his 75 years old son to an Old Age Home. A Very beautiful movie.
The example of 92 years old Mahathir Mohd recently elected as PM for Malaysia , Young v/s Old in a group of retired people and quoting Ram Jethamalani saying 80 plus are waiting for their flight for God "s Lounge are few issues raised in this post.
Now we can not compare an apple with an orange. Every nation has its own set of problems. How Malaysia a very small nation can be compared with India with a very large population base.
There are many developed nations in Europe where population base is shrinking and hence their working population group of 15 to 64 is also shrinking and their Govts are encouraging immigration of workers from Asian countries. And as such these nations have a problem of how to take care of Social Social Security of their Senior Citizens and therefore they are raising retirement age of their workers at regular intervals. The retirement age in a few such nations has almost touched levels of 68 to 70.
However, our population base is going up and we may even surpass China in near future means India likely to become most populated country at global level with approx. population of 1.5 billion. Ours Union and state Govts are not ready to take care of social security of its senior citizens . Defined Pension already replaced by NPS. .Three big reasons for this sensitive issue are Large Population Base, Large scale corrupt Govt Machinery and Large scale Non Tax Compliance .
So in Indian Context law of nature that young must replace old is fully valid. When sixty five percent population is young in our country so our super senior citizens of 75 plus must voluntarily come forward to create space for youngsters to replace them in politics or Trade Unions for Seniors or Legal profession etc. and all such super seniors after vacating desired space for youngistan must devote their available time in case their health and energy level permits them to missions of charity or social service.
