Dear Mr Sahni,
It is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and NOT Sardar Vallabhai Patel, please.
This is a common error committed by almost everybody all over India as is Kasturi Bai for Kasturba in Chennai (I don't know how it is in other places)
"THOUGHT OF THE DAY FW ERI BOI"
It's " Thought for the day" when we begin our day, please.
Thanks and regards.
P. Ramanathan.
"Thought of the day sounds like some lesson you learn at the end of the day whereas thought for the day sounds like something you would say before you begin your day."
" "Thought for the day" is correct.
The thought does not belong to the day, it belongs to the person and should be in his/her mind on that day.
It is the thought that should be present for that day, the preposition 'of' shows possession. Example : handle of the door; leaves of the trees.
In this case the day does not possess the thought, so you cannot say thought of the day."
"Thought of the day sounds like some lesson you learn at the end of the day whereas thought for the day sounds like something you would say before you begin your day. So I think both are correct depending on when you want to convey the thought"
