SC upholds verdict on constitutional validity of Aadhaar, not necessary for schools, bank account and Mobile connections

Supreme Court on its verdict on Aadhaar issue stated that  Aadhaar is mandatory for UGC, NEET & CBSE examinations and directed Biometric data shall not be shared with any agency without the permission of the court. The Top court also ruled that Aadhaar card is mandatory for PAN linking.

Supreme Court said that "The government needs to ensure that illegal migrants do not get Aadhaar card", In favor of the Aadhaar card the Apex court said,  "Education has taken us from thumb impression to signature, now technology has taken us from signature to thumb impression."

Supreme Court also noted that Aadhaar need not be made compulsory for school admissions. While upholds  the  verdict on constitutional validity of Aadhaar Justice AK Sikri asked Centre to "introduce strong data protection law as soon as possible"

In this regard Supreme Court said, "minimal demographic & biometric data of citizens are collected by the UIDAI for Aadhaar enrolment. Aadhaar number given to a person is unique & can't go to any other person"

Justice AK Sikri while reading out verdict in Supreme Court on the constitutional validity of Aadhaar, said, "It is better to be unique than to be best."

Justice AK Sikri also stated that Aadhaar empowers the marginalized section of the society and gives them an identity, Aadhaar is also different from other ID proofs as it can't be duplicated.

Supreme Court also stroked down the section 57 of Aadhaar Act; as a result, private companies cannot ask for Aadhaar card. 

Supreme Court also asserted that  "Aadhaar not mandatory for the opening of bank account and mobile phone connections.
