Friends,

Sub: Late Sri Rajagopalan, and moving beyond ......

It's been a dark period for us in the Federation, after the loss of the great stalwart Sri R Rajagopalan from our midst. We're still reeling under the shock of this set-back and it will take some time before we can accept this reality and move forward.

Some of us from Chennai should be going over to Bengaluru this week- end to meet the Family of Sri Rajagopalan and offer our condolences to them. Incidentally the Bengaluru Association is also planning to have a Condolence meeting on Saturday the 14th, which members going over from Chennai also intend participating in.  Sri O P Vasisht, a long time friend and Associate of Sri Rajagopalan, is also expected to join in on the 14th of Sept at Bengaluru.

Today, just minutes ago, I had a long chat with our President Sri Bali Sab, and he was mentioning about the Official Insurance Week Dinner hosted by LIC to its past leaders at Chairman, MD and ED levels.  He said he took the opportunity to chat with Sri M.R. Kumar, the Chairman, about the points we had raised in discussions on the 24th of July 2019. Some of the points covered in this informal exchange of information were:

     I.        The 92-93 Retirees matter is still under active consideration of the CO. It appears in a later chat with the ED (P) Sri Mukesh Gupta, Sri Bali was told that there were over 800 people in that category, and even if many of them were not  alive now, their families needed to be brought in, for benefits due to them, if eventually it is decided to do so.

II.        Two of the 3 major Demands, viz., Stage increases in Pension for 80 plus age group, and Family Pension, are still under active consideration of the CO.

III.        Sri Bali also talked to Sri Nadkarni, the present ED (OS), who has promised to call us for talks on practical aspects of Mediclaim benefits, mostly in the presence of New India people. We will first need to consolidate our views on this subject soon, so that we can ask for this meeting in October itself. People who have made studies on these implementation aspects ,can once again commit their points to paper, and send it on to us at the Federation, to enable us make a compact presentation of our points for the Discussions at CO.

IV.        The Chairman Sri Kumar told Sri Bali that he was following up with the ED (P) on all the points that were raised by us in the July 24th Discussions, to know where matters stood.

Sri Bali mentioned about his personal equation with the Ticketing Chief (All-India), of 'Make My Trip.com', and suggested that people, who intended travelling to Kolkata by Air, for the GC meeting in December, and those who are yet to make their Booking, could send in information on details of Names, dates and places from which the Travel is to be made (both ways), so that he could consolidate the number of Tickets to be purchased, and approach his contact person to ask for a fair concession. People need to act fast on this.

This much for now .... with Greetings to all.

D.Krishnan.

General Secretary
