Dear Friends,

I am again coming to you with the sad news, of the passing away of sri K P Narasimhan, former Chairman of LIC. He will be completing 88 in October 20. It appears he  was ailing for the past some days and the death is reported to have taken place yesterday morning. I tried contacting his home number but it was not going through.

He was a person of tremendous simplicity in every walk of life. It was understood, he never claimed any DA on tour, saying he had not incurred any expenses! He was a voracious reader and was extremely knowledgeable. He was of course an Actuary and his insight into matters regarding insurance was very deep.

On retirement he settled down in Chennai, and for years, one could sometimes see him cycling a fair distance to reach the Connemara Library near Mount Road, to borrow books. He used to attend the Chennai Assn.  Annual General Body meetings, though over the last few years he was not seen, reportedly due to health reasons.

The inexorable wheels of destiny are moving on , calling time up on people , and there is no option but to accept it and move along. Sri K P Narasimhan will long be remembered for his simplicity and upright character. Our condolences to the KPN  family.

D.Krishnan.
