Re: Hearing of our SLPs in SC on 7th Jul 2021
As was expected our cases came at about 12:05. We were hopeful that our Sr Adv would get sufficient time for arguments. Though the case came as per expectation, the arguments could not take place. When our Sr Adv Sri Nidhesh Gupta requested for permission to start arguments, bench inquired about the opp party's adv. Shri Panigrahi, AOR LIC informed that LIC's Sr Adv Shri Ranjit is joining. In the meantime, judges picked up the files and consulted each other and told that this case will take about two to three days' time. NG told that he is ready for arguments. In the meantime, Sr Adv for LIC Shri Ranjit Kumar got connected and apologized for delay. He also told that the case will take two to three days' time but he is ready for arguments or as lordship directs. Some other advocate from the petitioners' side (could not know his name) also intervened. The judges were not inclined to start arguments and adjourned the case by four weeks. Shri Nidhesh Gupta's appeal that the petitioners are senior citizens and need early resolution so a specific date should be given by the Bench, was received by the judges sympathetically.
M P Agnihotri.
