E circular No.DK/78 13-11-2021
Dear Friends,
Reg: Progress of some matters
1. Letter to CBDT & DFS on taxation on leave encashment
2. Timelimit extn. to avail LTC after superannuation –CO Cir.
3. Circular reg. updation in banks by AIBPARC
There was a representation from our Udupi Assn. on the need for asking the Central Board of Direct Taxes to review the Rule regarding limit of 3 lakhs, now allowed for Public sector and other sector employees , other than the Central and State Government Employees, for whom there is no ceiling, in exempting the Leave Encashment Salary fully from Income Tax. We thought it was a good case in point and needed a review. Accordingly a letter was sent to the Chairman CBDT and the Department of Financial Services requesting for a Review of the differential standards currently existing, as between the Government Employees and those of other sectors. The letter sent yesterday is being sent with this Circular.
We had word from Gen Secretary of in-service Federation, Sri Raj Kumar that the CO had, at last, come out with the Circular allowing additional time for availing the unavailed LTC after Retirement. This matter had to be taken up several times before the CO finally relented. I am thankful to Sri Raj Kumar for the follow-up he did to see the matter eventually clinched. The CO Circular in this behalf is also carried here as part of this Circular.
Lucknow Association is slated to have its AGM tomorrow, the 14th of Nov 2021. One of the significant things about this AGM would possibly be that, there would be a total change, at the Leadership level. Sri S C Joshiji who was their President passed away some months back leaving the President's seat to be filled. Now Sri S K Awasthiji , their famed Secretary, says he will move on. Awasthiji has been a great asset not only to their Association, but to the Federation at large. His contributions in shaping the right kind of initiatives for the Federation have been phenomenal. I was personally suggesting to him that he holds on for a time more. But I think he has somewhat made up his mind on the proposed move. If that happens as indicated, it would be the end of an era both for the LKO Association and the Federation. It is only hoped against hope that there is a change of heart and he continues.
With fraternal Greetings to all
