Letter to Chairperson

Revered ChairPerson Sri M.R.Kumar Sir,

PLEA for quick acceptance & resolution of Pensioners Issues ,dire need to make lives happier& tranquil,tremendous delay & procrastination costing so many deaths, tragic indeed      

1)   NEW INDIA INSURANCE CO  Ltd-now offers Rs75lacs OSA option ,deadline 31 march 2022.Shocking.There is 25% increase in premium without any concomitant benefits. NI aim is only to garner maximum premium  This must be translated as goodwill towards LIC Employees & Pensioners in accepting maximum suggestions to be incorporated in 2022-23 Policy. Moreover, we pleaded there should be a breakthrough this year.  Also. instead of being too rigid  & totally negative, we pray NI  initiates  few fresh Dental treatment of non-controversial nature ,as recommended by Dental Surgeons,without uninhibited rejection to bring in dental treatments,as even  Bank Mediclaim policies now contain dental treatment reimbursements .

RBI Pensioners are allowed even Covid 19 treatment beyond the boundary of regular mediclaim policy. RBREA has requested that Booster dose charges of Rs780 also be reimbursed . Whither LIC Pensioners,new benefits to be conferred are at a standstill. It is time for you to act decisively to remove the agony of pensioners. Banks & SBI get in addition to mediclaim policy benefits ,Staff Welfare Fund.SBI secures high amount earmarked Rs 200 crores some years before.LIC Pensioners are very unfortunate.I may also point out SBI publishes a wonderful & meaningful House Magazine ,"SECOND INNINGS " under the auspices of Senior General Manager (HRD)

  2)While a staggering,colossal  Crores is the Yearly premium charged by NI Insce Co from LIC, only cosmetic changes,nothing substantial is granted to employees & pensioners.It is sad that dental treatment comes even now under EXCLUSIONS only with usual clause ,any accident related dental treatment only comes under purview..

  3)All Pensioners Fedns complained that Hospitals mercilessly categorise Nonmedical charges very high.Employees & Pensioners are aware of items under Non medical, a big list of course,yet, they have to bear this burden & meagre pension does not allow such loss of actuals spent.

   4)Even Repudiation of claims is done & there is no education on such matters or periodical meetings with TPAs & local NI officials with LIC at Zonal & Central level. Banks, RBI regularly hold discussions & pensioners are called for a Sharing Session, found to be educative in clearing doubts,as it is highly participative & open sessions.Their Reports are very educative,some grievances settled on the spot & promotes goodwill & understanding.

  5)Internal Audit must focus proper searchlight on such vulnerable & sensitive points only, to lend a helping hand assuredly to such needy pensioners really wanting guidance, but certainly not to be ignored .Pensioners Family  may not know any nuances of the issue & LIC must not take advantage.      LIC  followup  of Outstanding Maturity or Death claims has won praise from all quarters,LIC sends Field Force ,get the Requirements & settle the claimWHEREAS POOR pensioners families are left in the lurch & no contacts or advice or SMS or EMAIL to them.This is a very UNHAPPY situation .

6) LIC Top Mgt shd become a dominant partner & not passive,for GroupMediclaim negotiations

 

 i)They must din & get Frankenstein GST of crores &with Govts sacred slogans of Swacchha Bharat. If not Zero. minimum rates only to be applied & this saved amount to be allotted to Pensioners .

 

ii)Strange when new Family Floater Policy came with OSA as high as Rs50 lacs ,All employees could opt but pensioners with small Pension could  not dare touch &a minuscule number only opted.So too this time Pensioners can murmur only as they cannot afford premium for Rs 75 lacs OSA.

 

 There is a need for offering Entry Option as still many are outside the ambit & so no protection of health for family

 

iii)Simple matters like when RP dies ,as Family Pension tumbles down to abysmal level & so original OSA cannot continue . With Appendix V Restrictive slabwise provisions.I mentioned about late Sri NSLakshman,ZM scale who died on 22 Oct 2018,with BP Rs 2740 & DR 27555, in all Rs 30,295 & now Family Pension BP, Rs0915, DR Rs 9210 totalling Rs 10,116 ,so miserly,human dignity vanishes

& the existing proportionate rule prohibits free exercise of desired OSA by the surviving spouse.  Minor matters like these shd not hang on & on . Family Pensioner shd be free to exercise& choose OSA & they will not encroach Compulsory SA Rs10 lacs 

 

iv) Still NI has not resolved the Controversial Room Rent formula as strangely Nursing charges are included in Room rent & with this addition,if room rent exceeds the authorized Ceiling ,unethical proportionate reduction in other charges takes place ,which shd be stopped .

 

v)  Pensioners cannot afford even the OPD & normal Doctors consultation for many diseases .    Consultation fee, medicines,other injections,prescriptions take a heavy toll for Pensioner & Spouse  for the whole year& the meagre pension amount is still whittled down .Consultation Fee,Special reports not allowed to be taken for diagnosis, medicines, injections & to be repeated when not cured, & many diseases out of purview or new prognosis remedial prescriptions costing high but rejected or not allowed by NI turning a blind eye to such request & so 

SUCH expenses with Receipts for the year ,peg the Ceiling to 10 percent of CSA as none or very very few dig into OSA

 

vi)Some charges for Approved Spl Reports ,reimbursible have risen, so excess is  disallowed .

All the more modern improvements eg SIGVARIS socks with 4 point adjustments for reducing leg swelling,Rs 13,000,new paradigms double socks white & pink ,TRUEFIX-2C,Innovative 2 Component System Rs1899 costing 4days tight to be worn,so per month 5 times cost Rs9500 but effective as only then near normalcy comes. &the like  for other diseases shd be accepted when supported by Doctors prescriptions & not unceremoniously rejected .This also can come under item  v) above with a ceiling of 10% of CSA

 

vii) IRDAI Circular dt 17/8/2018 has removed 10 items at a stretch from Exemptions & has been made compulsory with immediate effect,in cases of mental  health care, dental, stem cell  infertility & psychiatric treatment  etcAs these are no longer optional .  CO Per must  have already  talked with New India as IRDAI fiat is an order to be taken serious note of & complied . IRDAI order could have been complied with , as all were waiting for breakthrough in dental treatment.

Personnel Accident Policy,… 
*Increase by 50% in the limit of amount to be reimbursed
under Preventive Health Check-up Scheme,… 
*extending certain reimbursements whichwere available to only Class I, to Class II, III & IV and *most important -we have finallygot One more Pension Option to non-pension optee employees/retired employees and the family of deceased employees, after years of struggle.

    7)   We are sure you will exhibit same exuberance towards satisfactory resolution of Pensioners genuine grievances,which are at advanced stage of discussions & reason & logic of the issues genuine & modest,compel NEW INDIA to accept these & include in final round of Group MediClaim under Family Floater policy.More so ,when Pensioners are hailed as FOUNDERS rightly as they also tackled preNationalisation,then Nationalisation & post-Nationalisation,then Farreaching OIC Reorganisation mammoth changes with sound Plan & Strategy of decentralisation of many functions,Branches evolving as  NewBusiness Centre,Servicing Centre, Accounting & Profit Centre,& above all as a Triveni where Employees,Policyholders & Field force meet,mix & mingle.

        8)     Please grant us the same benefit of CMB CASHMEDICAL BENEFIT on same lines as that for Employees.ALL know pensioners deserve this much more than anybody else. As in many DO Emails to MDs too ,we were stressing that a mere Rs91.5 crores per annum will be the outlay for 60,000 pensioners,which is a pittance ,when compared with Meals Coupon for all Employees costing more than Rs500cr. What more,SIR,than this elation of LIC grand Achievements must allow you to empathetically fulfil modest aspirations of Pensioners with a liberal mind .We Pensioners shall be indebted to you for ever.---

   9)For none else, Time is so important & critical, as for Pensioners-Regular & Family. Sad,frustrated & grief-stricken , are we ,Sir, that app 19,000 pensioners have died & are dying,during last 23 years .We are sure,under your able & dynamic Leadership,,you will touch & enhance the chords of accord ,bringing new rays of sunshine for Elders, Sr Citizens & Super Sr Citizens.
