Renewal of mediclaim policy

Federation of LIC Class-I Officers’ Associations

President

Baburao Humraskar

General Secretary S. Rajkumar

Dated 9th March 2022.

To, The Executive Director (Personnel) LIC of India Central Office Mumbai.

Dear Sir,

Sub: Renewal of mediclaim policy

In our previous discussions, we have suggested several modifications in the Mediclaim scheme and demanded that there should be a detailed discussion before the renewal of the policy. We express our strong protest in lack of transparency in such sensitive matters affecting the employees, especially when the contribution from the employee is also involved.

We welcome the option to increase the optional sum assured and inclusion of independent children up to age 45 years under the Group mediclaim policy. However, we observe that there is a steep hike in premium across all sum insured categories and age bands, which is not as per the expectation of the employees. Earlier there was such a huge hike in Group insurance premium also and together it creates a huge burden to the employees and we request you to explore alternative options for a reduction in premium.

Apart from this, the following suggestions are also not considered.

  • An increase in compulsory family floater sum insured which is stagnant for so many years.

  • We have demanded one more option to include parents and in-laws as the dependency income level has been hiked substantially after the last option which was also ignored.
  • Inclusion of Dental and eye treatment was demanded by us and no consideration is given for this also.
  • We have submitted a detailed representation of the modifications to be made and it is unfair that no discussion is held on this.

We request you to consider our reasonable demands before renewal of the policy, after proper consultation.

S. Rajkumar General Secretary
