I have obtained the following information under RTI:
Number of retiree-pensioners as at 31/3/2022: 69158
Number of family pensioners as at 31/3/2022 : 23240
Total number of pensioners as at 31/3/2022: 92398
There is a steep increase in the number of retiree pensioners by 25617, an increase of
1713 in family pensioners and an increase of 27330 in the number of total pensioners.
There seems to be a sharp difference considering that there were only 4192 retirements and 821 deaths of employees in 2021-22.
The number of pension optees in service has also only decreased by 9359 in 2021-22 to 79511 as at 31/3/2022 from 88870 as at 31/3/2021
There seems to be some discrepancy either in the figures of 2020-21 or those of 2021-22.
