Price of tomatoes

There is huge cries about skyrocketing  price of tomatoes. Cry is high from middle class families or even very welloff families. They ignore the unprecedented rains, how can tender plants of tomatoes stand in this catastrophic rains when concrete houses could not stand. The crops in the tomato growing states have been destroyed, roads have been washed away, movement of people and goods are most difficult. Thousands have been held  up away from their homes or have been rendered homeless. We forget we have been getting tomotos at price of rs.20 or less in May and june; farmers were getting only rs.5 a kg. Entire effort is to place govt. In the dock for the situation. Wait a little. The supply will increase, prices will come down when newly planted crop will start bearing fruit or movement of tomatos from far away becomes easier and fast. In the meantime let us think to shun or reduce use of this commodity and use other vegetables available at much cheaper price such as onion or curd. May I add in my childhood upto age of 16 I had not heard the name of tomatoes or seen it on any veg. Shop. Let us adopt leaving taste of buds in hour of emergency  as these days.
