1.  The Centre has advised all social media platforms to comply with IT rules amid growing concerns around misinformation powered by AI - deepfakes.

2.  A “blast” occurred near the Israel embassy in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave here on Tuesday evening. No one was injured in the incident and an “abusive” letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador has been found near the site. 

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also examined the site. 

3.  A video of a tourist driving an SUV through the Chandra river in Lahaul-Spiti to beat traffic jam in Himachal Pradesh has gone viral.

The man was challaned under the Motor Vehicles Act, and to ensure that no one commits such an offence in the future, the district police have deployed a police personnel at the said place.

1.  Adani Green Energy (AGEL) on 26 December said its board of directors have approved a preferential issuance of warrants to the promoters for a quantum of Rs 9,350 crore, at a per share price of Rs 1,480.75. The funds shall be utilised for deleveraging and accelerated capital expenditure. 

2.  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released a draft 'Licensing Framework for Authorised Persons (APs)' under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999.

3.  Education loans in India have witnessed a remarkable year-on-year growth of 20.6%, reaching ₹1,10,715 crore in the current financial year till October. 

4.  Bengaluru-based fintech Slice-backed North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) has recently revealed the appointment of Satish Kumar Kalra as its interim managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO). 

5.  The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has given its nod to the appointment of Pramod Agrawal, the former Chief of Coal India, as the Chairman of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

6.  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently took decisive action against four co-operative banks in Gujarat, slapping monetary penalties on them for various non-compliances. The penalties range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 7 lakh, reflecting the severity of the regulatory infractions. The affected banks include:-

(a) Progressive Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd., 

(b) The Kutch Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd.

(c) Shree Morbi Nagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd.

1.  PM Modi  had a telephonic conversation with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the future of Strategic Partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.

2.  India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are poised to commence negotiations in February aimed at modernizing their existing free trade agreement (FTA). 

3.  India is poised to secure exploration and development rights for five lithium blocks in Argentina, marking its second international foray into critical minerals after a partnership with Australia in 2022. The deal is on the verge of finalization between Khanij Bidesh India Ltd.

4.  A plane that was detained in France on suspicions of human trafficking arrived in Mumbai with 276 people on Tuesday.  A total of 303 passengers had boarded a chartered plane last week in Fujairah airport in the United Arab Emirates for a flight to Managua, Nicaragua.

French authorities had detained the plane last Thursday on an anonymous tip-off when it stopped for refuelling.

3.  Death toll in weekend attacks in central Nigerian state of Plateau rises to 113; More than 300 injured. 

4.  Egypt has proposed a three-phase plan to end the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. 

(a)  In the first phase of the plan, Israel would be expected to pause its military operations for one to two weeks for Hamas to release 40 hostages, including women and the elderly.

(b)  The second phase includes an agreement of the exchange of bodies of Hamas militants held by Israel for the bodies of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

(c) The third phase of the plan includes an ‘all-for-all’ deal meaning Israel would return 6,000 Palestinian prisoners in its jails for the remaining Israeli hostages including soldiers, Hamas is holding in captivity.

5.  Russia has confirmed that one of its warships has been damaged in a Ukrainian air strike on a Black Sea port. 

6.  Turkish air strikes killed eight civilians in Syria's Kurdish-held northeast Monday. As Ankara launched operations in Iraq and Syria following deadly attacks on its soldiers.
