'Circular - Review of revision in premium rates under health insurance policies for senior citizens'

We have to study the implications of this circular on our Group Mediclaim Scheme presently with New India Assurance Company Ltd.It will be important that the renewed Group Mediclaim Policy for FY 2025-26 conforms to the guidelines of IRDAI.
The most important guideline is the cap of 10% increase in premium charged for senior citizens on renewal. In order that there is clarity on conformity by our Group Mediclaim Scheme to this guideline, the age slab 56-65  in the table of premiums needs to be bifurcated into  slabs of 56-59 and 60-65  so that premiums are specified  on renewal for members aged 60 and above are in a separate slab  for whom the revised premiums are within the 10% cap increase.
The  Pensioners' Associations also need to take up with the LIC Management and with IRDAI if need be, for including  coverage of dental treatment  in our Mediclaim Scheme as teeth and gum very much  form part of the human body and any health insurance scheme should not exclude cover for treatment for any part of the body.
