Dear Shri Kishore,

Thanks for your prompt response.

The policy conditions do include Organ Transplant.  But the TPA does not treat Total Knee Replacement as Organ Transplant.

I talked to Mr. Manish Kumar, Sr. Divisional Manager, New India Assurance, I/c of LIC's  Mediclaim policy.

As an individual par excellence, he immediately advised the TPA to allow this facility to me, which was done promptly.  My wife's surgery went on well and we were sent home on 27th.  She is on path of recovery - though with unbearable pain.  Let us pray she comes out safe.

Incidentally, during my conversation with Mr. Manish Kumar, he disclosed that New India had offered to include as many diseases   as may be desired by LIC for inclusion in the list of Cashless claims.  But LIC was not forthcoming and eventually only a few diseases were included.  He asked me to send a copy of the mail to Mr. Sanjay Gupta (probably he is I/c of Mediclaim in ER Dept of LIC CO) so that he could request New India to include some more diseases/surgeries in the list.  I did that but there has been no response.

I suggest you may use your good offices with Mr. M.R. Kumar D(P) and request him to review the list and expand it so that in future such hassles are not encountered - particularly by retirees.

Sorry for inconvenience caused to you.

Praying for your long and healthy life,

Regards

RS Ahuja
