Navroz Mubarak! India, the land of various festivals of different religions celebrates Navroz as the Iranian New Year on March 21 every year.
The widely popular festival among Zoroastrians, Nowruz or Navroz is celebrated globally with splendor as it marks the first day of the Iranian New Year.
The traditional Parsi festival which is celebrated by decorating house doors with roses and jasmine finds its depiction in search engine Google’s idea of wishing everyone with a beautifully coloured flowers and bees doodle on its homepage!

The celebration of Navroz happens on the fixed date of 21st March annually as the start of spring by the Parsi Zoroastrians of South Asian origin.
As a part of festivities and rituals, there is something call ‘Spring cleaning’ or Khouneh Tekouni (literally means ‘shaking the house’) or ‘complete cleaning of the house’ is commonly performed before Nowruz. The houses are well cleaned and the walls and especially entrance of the house are painted with bright colors, while doors are adorned with flowers especially jasmine and roses.
The family members dress up well and visit the fire temples and pay their homage before sitting down with near and dear ones for a hearty meal.
In India, mainly in Kashmir, Navroz has grand celebration with Thal Bharun (meaning ‘filling the platter’) being a popular tradition.
The reason behind the celebration of the auspicious day of Navroz is to strengthen the ties between the Parsi community and the brotherhood bond remains knitted. The joyous day marks the coming together of family and friends. It is about giving love to younger ones and being respectful to elders while exchanging greetings and gifts with one and other.
