Many person are facing problems in filing income tax return due to forget password for Income Tax India E filing website.Further many person facing problem due to non dis-closer of password by their tax advisers. But now Income Tax department has given many ways to reset the password at income tax e filing site. In this post we have explained all the tricks to reset password at Income Tax return Filing website .
As you may aware of that user id at Income Tax India website is PAN number.
Please Note that Due date to file Income Tax return for Non audit cases (like salaried person, Business Income where audit is not required) for Financial Year 2014-15 (assessment year 2015-16) is 31.08.2015
To reset password at Income Tax India E filing Site
  1. first you should click Login Link and 
  2. Then Forget Password Link.



Methods to reset password at Income Tax India e filing Website.
  1. Reset through Answer Secret question
  2. Upload Digital Signature
  3. Through Acknowledgement Number  and Bank Account
  4. Through One Time Password (OTP)
    1. OTP at Old Email ID and old Phone Number
    2. OTP at New email Id and New Mobile Number
      1. Provide any TAN In Form 26AS
      2. CIN detail of challan deposited by Assessee
      3. Bank Account Number 
  5. Through send Pan details To Income Tax Department.
  6. Through net banking password 
All The Methods has been Explained as under
1. Password Reset through Answer Secret question :This method is very simple and through this method you can reset password immediately .In this Method secret question selected by you at the time of registration of PAN at e filing site.Further You have to file Date of Birth of Your PAN.If you are able to provide both this inputs then in next screen you can reset password .
2.Upload Digital Signature :In this method ,you have to Upload your Registered digital signature or New Digital signature . In both the Method you can upload PFX file or through USB token.
3.Though Acknowledgement number and Bank Account Number : In this method you have to provide acknowledgement number of last filed income tax return and Bank account number provided in this return . By providing both ,you can reset password immediately .
4. Through One Time Password(OTP) on Email and Mobile Number: In this Method you can will get one time password on email and mobile number and after filling the same on website ,you can reset password. One Time password can be sent on registered email and mobile number or new mobile and email address.

4.1: OTP on Old Email Address and old Mobile number: Under this method first and last few letters /digits of your registered email id and Mobile number will be shown . If you have access to old registered mobile number and email id then click validate ,
In next screen fill (OTP) PIN received  in email and mobile number in respective fields .If Pin not received in 2 minutes then you may click resend pin option.After filing new PIN click validate and in next screen reset you e filing site password.
4.2: OTP on New Email Address and New Mobile number: If you don't have access to your old email id or Mobile Number then you can provide new email id and mobile number to get OTP at new mail/mobile number.However you have to verify one of three other parameters.This Parameter has been described as under.
  • 4.2.1:Through TAN of any deductor: In  addition parameter you have to provide TAN number of your employer or your Bank if tax has been deducted by your employer/Bank or other person. If Tax has not been deducted then you should try 4.2.2.You may provide challan paid for AY 2013-14 or Ay 2014-15

  • 4.2.2: Through Challan Details deposited by you : In this method you have to provide detail of Tax directly deposited by you .You have to provide challan detail ,BSR code ,Date And amount of Tax deposited.
  • 4.2.3: Through Bank account : This option can be used only if you have filed online income tax return earlier .You have to confirm bank account number used  in  filing of Income Tax returns.

5. Send Pan Data To Income Tax department : If all of above 4 methods are not working then last alternative available with you is to send following particulars to income tax department at validate@incometaxindia.gov.in 
  • PAN
  • PAN Holder;s Name
  • Date of Birth/Date of Incorporation
  • Father's Name
  • Registered PAN address

6.e-Filing Login Through NetBanking 
Registered Taxpayer can login through NetBanking and reset the password. NetBanking Login: To Reset Password using the ‘Net Banking Login’, the steps are as follows: 
Step 1: In Homepage, Click on "Login Here"
Step 2: Click on "Forgot Password" link. 
Step 3: Enter User ID (PAN), Captcha and Click on Continue button. 
Step 4: Click on "e-Filing Login Through NetBanking" link. 
Step 5: Select the Bank from the list of Banks providing the e-Filing login facility 
Step 6: After login to NetBanking account, click on the link "Login to the IT e-Filing account" e-Filing user Dashboard screen shall be displayed. 
Step 7: Taxpayer can change the password under Profile settings
