Call to revise bank employees pension
STAFF REPORTER
The pension of retired bank officers and staff should be revised in keeping with changing times on the model of the One Rank, One Pension scheme for ex-servicemen, the All India Bank Pensioners and Retirees Confederation has demanded.
Confederation national joint general secretary Supreet Sarkar said adequate funds had been provided in each bank's pension fund for increasing pension benefits. However, following the neglect of retired employees in the recently signed 10th bilateral agreement between the Indian Banks Association and the Union government, the main unions of retired bank staff would draw up an agitation programme at the earliest. He was speaking at the sixth triennial national conference of the Associate Banks' Retired Officers' Association State Bank of Travancore unit here.
Inaugurating the conference, SBT managing director Jeevandas Narayan said retired staff were invaluable assets of banks. Banks should think about how to utilise experience of the retired employees.
Associate Banks' Retired Officers' Association chairman R. Chandrasenan presided
