Circular
No.47/2015
06 October 2015
Dear Comrades,
CALLOUS
APPROACH OF THE DHANLAXMI BANK MANAGEMENT
AIBOC
LAUNCHES ANOTHER ROUND OF AGITATION IN KERALA
We reproduce hereunder
contents of Circular No. 2015/69 issued by General Secretary, AIBOC for your
information.
QUOTE:
As per the decision of the National Executive Committee which met at Ahmedabad
on 23rd September, AIBOC has restarted the agitation against the
Dhanalakshmi Bank Management which failed to honour the settlement reached in
the presence of the Hon’ble Home Minister of Kerala. As our efforts
failed to bring the Management for an amicable settlement on 28th
September 2015 AIBOC organised a press conference at the Press Club at Trissur
i.e. the day the board meeting of DLB was taking place at Trissur. It was
made clear to the press that if the settlement arrived at in the presence of
the Home Minister was not implemented by the Managing Director and the Board,
we will be compelled to start an agitation under the banner of AIBOC. The
Press Conference was addressed by Com. D.T. Franco, Senior Vice President of
AIBOC, Com. V. Chidambara Kumar, Jt. General Secretary of AIBOC and President,
Private Sector Officers Association, Com. Abraham Shaji John, Secretary AIBOC
Kerala State Unit, Com. Paul Mundadan, General Secretary-Private Sector
Officers Association and General Secretary Federal Bank Officers Federation and
Com. Prasad, President AIBOC Trissur Dist Unit. All the Malayalam News
Papers gave a wide coverage on 29th Sep 2015. These leaders
also met Com. V.S. Achuthananthan, Leader of the opposition in Kerala Assembly
after seeking his appointment. He was reminded that during the tripartite
negotiation the Home Minister informed the participants that the negotiation
was ordered by the Chief Minister as the issue was raised in the Assembly by
the leader of the opposition. But unfortunately the decisions have not been
implemented by the Management of Dhanlaxmi Bank though the Association has
followed all the terms of the agreement on its part. We requested
him to once again take up the matter with the Bank Management and with the Home
Minister. He assured to take up the issue by writing a letter to the Home
minister immediately.
A demonstration was also organised on 29th September 2015 in front
of the venue for the General Body meeting of the Share Holders meeting of
Dhanalakshmi Bank at Trissur. Large number of members from various
affiliates participated in the demonstration. The Management called the
police to force the demonstrators to vacate the venue. Large number of
police along with a commando force arrived at the Venue and requested that as there
is no police permission we should vacate. But the huge Police force could
not deter our comrades who continued with the demonstration. After half
an hour of the demonstration the Police Inspector snatched away the mike and
the mobile speaker. Despite that the demonstration continued. In
order to avoid any direct conflict and at the request of police authorities the
venue of the demonstration was shifted. The demonstrators reassembled and
continued the demonstration in front of the head office of Dhanalakshmi Bank in
the same vicinity. The demonstration was inaugurated by Com. D.T. Franco
and addressed by Com. Abraham Shaji, Com. Chidambara Kumar Com. Paul Mandadan,
Com. Jayakrishnan, General Secretary, SBT Officers Association (ABOA), Com. Gopikrishnan,
President South Indian Bank Officers Association and many other leaders.
The lady comrades were led by Com. Maymol Mathew, President, Catholic Syrian
Bank Officers Association.
Management was not at rest inside the meeting hall also. We understand
that many share holders on their own raised the issues of fraud in Dhanlaxmi
Bank and Industrial Relations in the Bank in the share holders meeting.
Management did not find comfortable in replying to the questions of the Share
holders. Pamphlets were also distributed to the share holders and the
public.
The State Committee of AIBOC Kerala met at South Indian Bank Officers
Association office after that. Meeting was attended by Com. D.T. Franco
and Com. V. Chidambara Kumar also apart from representatives of all
affiliates. The participants thanked the AIBOC National Committee for its
continued support and also appreciated the struggle of Dhanalakshmi Bank
Officers Association which lasted for 33 days. After detailed
deliberation the following decisions were taken
.
1. Immediately
follow up with the Home Minister and the Central Trade Unions from Kerala to
implement the understanding and bring a final settlement.
2. If
the issue is not sorted out within 15 days the AIBOC should give a strike
notice for two days in Kerala for which the notice has to be issued by AIBOC
National Committee.
3. AIBOC
should also announce one day nationwide strike
4. Immediately
start correspondence with the Management, IBA, Human Rights Commission and UFBU
for their intervention.
State
Committee also decided a detailed programme for its implementation which will
be separately circulated by them in due course
Regards, E.R.Iyer
