Re: Sanctity of formation of "Boards" & the weighing the force of their "Resolutions" ?
It is interesting to come across the latest views expressed by an enlightened section among us that we should no longer depend upon the Resolution passed unanimously by LIC Board, as SC has not upheld our plea as it is, but observed that it is to consider the legal validity of the said resolution and also the non-approval of GOI over the recommendation of LIC. It is understood that two responsible executive officials from the Finance Ministry, GOI, attended the particular Board Meeting as Members of the Constituted Board and they form part of the Unanimous Resolution passed. A responsible wing of the finance ministry takes pleasure in passing a resolution in a Board Meeting, affixes its approval without any dissenting note and when the Resolution reaches that wing back fforwarded by LIC with its recommendation for approval, while it is seated in its Ministerial position, takes pride in rejecting the same in toto. Don't we feel some thing funny over the functioning of our Grat Democratic Administration ?. Supposing Prime Minister declares some welfare measures in the midst of an elected forum and where is the guarantee that such measures would be certainly cleared by his own PMO. Let us wait and see how SC observes such peculiar situations and decides. M.P.Subrahmanian, RIEA, Madurai. |
