7th Pay Commission – No One is Happy

The nursing staff also wanted gazetted holidays to be extended to the nursing staff, similar to other central government employees.

The nursing staff attached to the ESIC Medical College and Hospital observed a black day and abstained from work, protesting against the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.

On Tuesday, the nursing staff, led by president P. Sharafudheen, marched to the administrative office of the ESIC Medical College and staged a demonstration for over one hour, shouting slogans against the alleged retrograde recommendations of the Pay Commission.

In a memorandum submitted to the college authorities, the nursing staff expressed their disappointment over the failure of the pay commission to revise the pay band of nurses, and demanded a grade pay of Rs. 5,400. They also wanted an increase in allowances as part of the pay scale. They also wanted an increase in uniform and washing allowance.

The nursing staff also wanted gazetted holidays to be extended to the nursing staff, similar to other central government employees. They also sought night duty allowance and time-bound promotions for all nurses.
