Re: Twilight Of Our Legal Fight.

Respected and prudent pensioner colleagues,

      Namaskar with New Year greetings.
Being at rest for some to come, prior to favorable emergence of certain anticipated events, there is no harm to analyse some of the notions publicized among us by a few vested interests, knowing fully well that they would be proved to be negative ideals during the course of succeeding days.

1. Demand of Revision of Pension is suicidal:-

Message was spread out that pension was obtained only after a prolonged persuasion and raising any further demand on revision of the same would even lead us to losing the present hard earned benefit.

2. Where is Fund with LIC to pay towards pension & DR arrears as per HC order ?:-

A sister Organisation, after the pronouncement of the Judgment of
Jaipur Branch of Rajasthan High Court on our twin demands, started heckling and posing with a mighty question as to where and how could LIC find source to mobilize such huge funds to pay as arrears.

3. Wrongful method of approach:-

Initially this organization never anticipated that the Mighty LIC / GOI combine would lose the legal battle all through from lower forums up to this stage at the Apex Court. After witnessing our successful victories at every stage, it has now taken a new avtar of accusing our Federation that it has chosen a wrong path and, had it been left to them, they could have settled the issues long back through peaceful negotiations and with the approval of the Central Government.
Apprehending that a favorable final decision of the Apex Court is within the vicinity of winning post, it has started tapping the doors of the Management with hurried " Resolutions, Personal Discussions, Submission of Memorandums, etc." to hood-wink its members. We can not but sympathize with their result-less pursuits. Now they must have understood the ground realities and that they could not at all have convinced the bureaucracies over the said issues through personal negotiations and all that. The GOI have amply explained their position with regard to similar demands in some other occasion to another set of representatives of serving employees' organizations. GOI have conveyed that what we are getting as pension is only a welfare measure and that there are no provisions for any upward revision of pension, etc. Even after this, if they are repeating their parrot-like arguments even today and continue their errand, time alone could guide them.
We are fully satisfied that our AIRIEF has chosen the choicest path of leading a legal battle with combined-force of UOI / LIC and we are confident of winning the issues at the door-steps of Supreme Court within a few days. Pensioner-brethren of Banks, GIC, may be RBI too, await the final favorable nod of the Supreme Court in our case to see off their years long sufferings.
AIRIEF has already got a number of accolades to its credit and it has got too-many pending issues to be sorted out ( further improvements in Group Medi-claim, automatic escalation of pension on completion of ages 80 to 100, monthly allowance for domestic treatment, leave travel concession, full pension on completion of 20 years of service are some of the major issues ) across the negotiating table with the Management.
It is up to you to decide as to how best we should show our gratitude and be sincere to our All India Retired Insurance Employees' Federation, which is solely functioning effectively for the uplift of our entire community in all aspects.

             LET US ALL RALLY BEHIND THE BANNER OF  "A I R I E F ".

With highest regards,
M.P.Subrahmanian,
R I E A ,  Madurai.
