FAREWELL & FARE WELL, CONGRATS ON UR STEWARDSHIP AS MD,A QUIET, STELLAR CONTRIBUTION

 Dear Sri Mainak,

                Life is not a riddle to be solved: it is a miracle to be celebrated & sung.You retired on 29 February 2016, after serving this great Financial & Service Institution,LIC for 33 years. Of course, as a Specialist in Investment operations & serving in Investment Dept, LIC for long, you indeed gave a tremendous uplift, ensured productive & profitable investment, needing special,unique acumen & instinct.You indeed served as the guardian of investible funds in crores, & also set the tone to make reality the Slogan,People's Money for People's Welfare.LIC  can feel proud we were really the Pulse of the people & the Pride of the Nation.

                I recall plenty of my talks with you ,when I was Nominee Director in a few companies.That needs lot of expertise & it is not always a cup of tea. We have to shoulder tremendous responsibility in ensuring safety & security of investment of LIC funds in that company.Viewed in this sense, on some ticklish issues,when I approached you, you have offered your valuable advice ,for which I profusely thanked you. As a livewire of Investment, with all eyes & ears on LIC , sometimes it is a delicate trapeze & public opinion on every statement made by top brass of LIC is splashed in all media.

                Your farewell message signifies you as an embodiment of simplicity & service to every other limb of institution & society.That a person of the status of MD  acknowledges assistance & understanding from all others is itself a tribute to your sterling qualities of head & heart. That you say with pride & distinction of your desire & passion "I always have put my heart,mind & soul into my smallest acts. I feel honoured & privileged to have been a part of this great organization " indicates your sublime nature & the dedication & commitment with which you adorned your assignment with such a tremendous & multifarious responsibility

                I have contacted you on some occasions depicting the problems of pensioners & the feeling of alienation of pensioners ,who stood rocklike &,laid the solid foundation & made this LIC a lustrous,reputed organization in every sphere of activity,also earning, in that process, encomiums all around & from FM & PM too.You certainly would have participated in the issues ofrealizing the genuine & modest demands of Insurance pensioners ,who got such frugal Retirement benefits & in these days of skyrocketing prices,one notices a distinct ,sizeable difference in finances, with no surplus, lower  standard of living & lifestyle because of crippled circumstances they have been facing for many years. 

                We are sure,with your stamp of personality, you can continue to exert positive & desirable influence in rectifying many anamolies,grant pensioners a recognizable status, remedy many other pending issues ,where we are way behind comparing with Government, RBI etc .A Stellar institution must protect & promote, not only employee interest & welfare but endeavour to extend comparable & similar benefits given to employees automatically to pensioners too. Don't you  think that aged pensioners, more than employees deserve Domiciliary Medical allowance & Periodical check-,given to employees right from age 45? We don't even have a Staff Welfare Committee as in Banks,& a sizeable Rs100 cr earmarked & revised upwards periodically by Govt . Platinum Jubilee Year 2016 September is a landmark for our institution & why not boldly announce  these worthy decisions lending smile & cheer in the minds & hearts of pensioners? A diminishing tribe, more so with plenty of exits,Family pensioners have swelled, further with NPS getting into psyche of Govt deep, this can be empathetically  considered.

                Lastly, you also like Govt, echo the concept of Corporate Governance with Independent Directors to play creative & significant role in moulding right, qualitative & dynamic policies of LIC in Board meetings .Realism & Pragmatism with a fairly liberal attitude of Top Management will make employees & pensioners, as Heads & Tails of the same coin, prove worthy in service & indeed act as Ambassadors & Public Relations Officer of this venerable Rock of Gibralter & undeclared Navaratna, LIC. I am taking this liberty ,as ,you can perceptibly influence ,as an engine of reform, to accelerate such noble & gracious offer.

                You said & said it right that after leaving work-life in LIC,you " have to get ready to embrace the one that is waiting for me.I want  to give my life to something  bigger than me."  We wish you & your family,a happy,productive life full of fine health, tranquillity,peace ,plenty & prosperity.Sure you will carry the torch of help & assistance to all including retirees. You have not retired, you will certainly retyre  your busyness ,to suit the best as one who donned the role of MD with aplomb &distinction ,in this hectic period  of ever-rising  competition .
