Dear friends,
1)The question of
settlement of wage arrears, Retirement dues& also fixation of Pension
on retirement date is crucial for employees who retired wef 1/8/2012 &
later. This applies to all classes & cadres of employees & so
adequate attention must have been paid to this important item of work, as part
of wage settlement, hailed as the best by all Unions praising efforts of LIC
Chairman, for the best ever wage settlement in history & especially
full DA counting for all benefits unlike in Banks ,who were not able to secure
the same
2)I was following up with
SZO here regularly, even twice a week, at many levels of hierarchy about
attention to be paid to Retirees 1/8/2012 & later.Irrespective of
numbers, each & every such retiree must get what is due to him &
it will smack of apathy on the part of management,if such important item of
work,as part of employee wage settlement ,is not given due attention &
importance .Sizeable amount is involved & pensioners & families
must not be put to hardship & difficulties. In fact, plan &
strategy to deal with aftermath of wage notification & instructions
must have been a regular affair & in these era of computerisation , when
work & endresult can come so quick,it is unfortunate that this
assignment was given no due attention resulting in a large number
of such retirees still not securing what is legitimately due to them
3)I may say with a degree
of happiness, that as a result of assiduous followup right upto the level of RM
E/OS,SZO,
i)SZO has settled all
dues to 1/8/2012 retirees & later. Not only wage arrears for the period
in service ,as also retirement benefits have been settled more than 10 days
before .Not only Zonal Office retirees,Divisional Offices of SZ also have
settled all dues
ONLY pension fixation,SZO
is awaiting instructions from LIC CO
ii)I can add that there
were 47 cases of Retirees of this nature at ZO level.
On my further query to ZO
AO/AS/RM, I am told that even those who were on Deputation, say Ombudsman
etc, everything has been done, calculations pucca & sent to that place
for settlement
All retirees irrespective
of cadres have been given due attention, they asserted.
iii)Further,when I
enquired about situation at TamilNadu & Kerala Divns of SZ,they said
that DOs also rose to the occasion & have settled all dues as per
instructions of SZO.
I was able to understand
that the number for all DOs was about 720 app.
iv)When I further probed
that SZ must satisfy itself fully, they must display empathy till the end, as
these retirees are yet to get Pension fixation& arrears on this count
from date of retirement, .they assured they will act no sooner they get CO
Circular & instructions. They said just 1 or 2 cases where some income
tax problems had to be resolved with retirees were pending, after due response,
these very few will be settled too
v)In respect of P
& GS retirees, there were some problems, confined to PGS platform on
Oracle & so after standardisation ,settlement will be made. This was
earlier stand. All my efforts to talk to ED PGS Sri MRKumar,I could not as
last week ,he was in a meeting, then 2/3 day tour,Chief PGS also on tour.3rd
Chief PGS Sri Verma , day before I contacted, after listening he said he does
not know ABCof this issue, he is full with all PMs schemes Dhan Dhan etc.
Today ED PGS PA said he
in in an Interview Committee ,so impossible to contact him. When I directed my
attention to Chief PGS ,PA lady told me he was on leave today.I secured his
Mobile no,thanked her ,wished her happy & colourful Holi.We have to
make others smile .
vi)I was also
simultaneously wanting to know from SZ PGS Officers.I was fup with
Secretary,PGS,SZO.He was noting the issue,I asserted they are responsible for
their Cadres who retired from PGS to get what all they should get & not
merely say SZ OS is dealing with this .I highlighted the issue of different
platforms like Oracle etc.I got his Mobile No & troubled him at home
too.
After 2 days, today he
phoned me to say that when he checked up with SZ OS,in respect of 3 PGS
Retirees, who went to Vellore at retirement, Due calculations & all what
is due,ZOOS sent to Vellore & that DO has settled the same.It gladdened
my heart
vii)All these take time,
labour, energy, expenses too but we have to sacrifice for the larger cause of
satisfaction of our brethern, younger pensioners.& fraternity in general
Greetings,
