It is indeed a shocking news that Sri Ravindra Thakur,VP,RIEA NAGPUR passed away at Nagpur at age 81 on Friday last

Pensioners fraternity is losing one after another & this sad news is trickling regularly week after week , month after month,causing grave concern to pensioners,for the indifference,lackadaisical,repulsive attitude & behaviour of LIC Management.Strangely, when many thought our long pending case for 17 years will be settled as SC bench was giving preference to our case,because of special Mention in SC,in view of aged elders & pensioners ,after 150 mts submissions by all parties,on 31/3 /2016 SC Orders packing all cases to Delhi HC Bench was a bombshell &  came delayed  on 7/4/2016

Sri Ravindra Thakur was a scholar in his own right.He had an impeccable English language.He had lofty ideas & ideals.He was a good Samaritan.he was an educationist.He & his wife jointly were doing so many noble causes for the spread of education. They were periodically releasing so many Text Books of value on great Indian Statesmen,their qualities of head & heart,the instrumental role played by Leaders of Freedom Movement,books on History, Values of education & many more stressing dire need for values in society & role of educational & training institutions in the cause of spread of literacy & removal of ignorance in the nation.He had also sent more than 12/13 years before few books ,good in print & contents & masterly,readable, forceful way of presentation ,which appealed to many

Myself & Sri BAngurajan met the pensioners of Nagpur,after our Raipur meet last year.Sri KSRam & Sri Thakur were on the dais with us.The atmosphere of pensioners itself brings many past memories, signal contribution to LIC ,service to policyholders & claimants & other stakeholders for 35/40 years of dedicated service.His talk ,as usual was intense,breathed fervour,cursed deadly delay in Court cases & Mgt & UOI playing perfect rhythmic Jugalbhandi  role to  deny equity & justice to pensioners, judged from any angle.Posterity will not forget the supine indifference,negative attitude of LIC especially when demands were modest & legitimate.Sri Thakur ,even during lunch,was emphasising that AIRIEF must spread its wings far & wide,it had done significant role for more than 18/19 years ,encompassing centrifugal & centripetal issues of importance to pensioners.He was pulled down,he looked pale ,colourless & not his own pristine past & he privately narrated treatment by Doctors for his illness even perverse, many reverse remedies his family had to embark upon & a strain on energy & finances & no assurance of regaining his good health

 Sri Ravindra Thakur used to make pointed & assertive comments & observations on our legal journey,stressed the desirability of finding now atleast an early solution, but was cocksure Pensioners Fraternity shall certainly win the battle

It is sad the final road we have reached will see some sweet results by 31 august 2016 at the hands of Delhi HC Bench to be finally whetted with a SC Bench judgement & judged by the varied strong & impenetrable case laws & submissions we present,the sadness of shift to Delhi HC bench will be more than compensated by the wholesome, all perfect verdict causing a ripple of rejoicing for all pensioners

These deaths of pensioners must remind Employees Assns to join & bless pensioners rather than put obstacles    in the way of securing twin benefits, which alone will be the lasting solution for all groups of pensioners.At this late hour,they must shed superiority & join pensioners in a common Cause to create a flutter among management & UOI & to hasten many pending issues with a deadline faster

We convey our deepest sympathies to his family.May his soul rest in peace. May RIEA Nagpur emerge as a Model RIEA,May all contribute substantial legal fund donations to AIRIEF, Bengaluru to  cross the last hurdle & snatch victory by widespread participation in the seriousness of the travel we are willing to do without any illwill & create a synergy to make all Regular & Family pensioners lives happier, merrier, comfortable & carefree in the twilight of their lives 

May the path of prudence, education & literacy ,promoting noble concepts for school & college education in which his family was at ease & did with a missionary zeal inspire all of us to follow his footsteps.WE pray to the Almighty to shower His blessings on his family to withstand this irreparable loss with courage & fortitude
