Dear Mr Kishore,
I know that the matter relating to the disbursement of 20% ( of what??? ) as Interim Relief in September 2015 by L I C of India in disobedience first to the order dated 07/05/2015 and then in reluctant and squeamish obedience to the 2nd order dated sometime in September 2015 of the Supreme Court of India without furnishing details of how the amount was arrived at and the years to which it relates to such of those pennrs (members of the Federation of LIC Class I Officers' Associations of Sridharan Sir, as I learn) to whom such amounts were paid is not of immediate concern to AIRIEF -- that being the baby of the organization of Sridharan Sir -- but it may turn out to be the concern of AIRIEF too when LIC disburses (if it, indeed, does) amounts of 40% ( of what??? ), most likely in similar fashion, to all 'similarly placed' pensioners before 20th May * as ordered by the apex court. [* before 20th May : The order dated 31/03/2016 of the Supreme Court to LIC to pay 40% as Interim Relief within six weeks (42 days) was uploaded in its website on 07/04/2016. Counting 42 days from and including 08/04/2016 (le2016 as I learn is the practice), LIC has 42 days up to and including 19/05/2016 to make the payments, right?] As the gratuitous and unasked-for advice of LIC that THE WHOLE OF THE SAID 20% SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RETURN OF INCOME FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2015-2016 flies in the face of Section 89 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, I have been pursuing the matter with the Chairman and ED (Personnel) of LIC and with the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the other officials of the Board (vide my trailing mail to the Chairman of the CBDT under copies to the various officials) and, failing to get any response from any of them, with Dr E.M. Sudarsana Natchiappan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha - House of Representatives), CHAIRMAN, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievancews, Law and Justice, vide my trailing mail dated 05/05/2016 to him. Southern Zonal Office and Channai D O 1 of LIC used to send six-monthly letter to pensioners up to and including in August 2015 --- a very welcome, laudable and HELPFUL feature --- explaining the difference in the amount of pension for Feb to July and from Aug to Jan consequent on change in the All India Consumer Price Index but the supportive practice seems to have been given the go-by very quietly from Feb 2016 as even a response is not forthcoming, leave alone the letter itself, from these offices DESPITE REPEATED REQUESTS AND REMINDERS THERETO UP TO THE LEVEL OF THE SECRETARIAT OF THE SOUTHERN ZONAL MANAGER Thanks for your time and patience. Keep well.
Regads.
