While we wait for the Verdict Part 1

                                 M SREENIVASA MURTY
                                      MARCH 13, 2017
                   FROM THE HYDERABAD ASOCIATION
WHILE WE WAIT FOR THE VERDICT……..Part 1
Although we were not the Respondents in any of LIC’s three Civil Appeals of 2013 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, nevertheless, from the time we filed our Intervener Application in August 2014, in CA No 9223/2013 (GNS Federation) till the Apex Court sent everybody to the Delhi High Court, I may claim we played a key-role in shaping the proceedings culminating in the historic Judgement dated 31 March 2016, which is just unprecedented for more than one reason.
The SC Judgement dated 31 March 2016, (like the LIC Board Resolution dated 24 Nov 2001) is in my view, ‘writing on the wall’. Only the Blind, (real or pretending) would miss the ‘message’ to ‘whomsoever it may concern’ in the path-breaking Judgement delivered by Justice Dipak Misra. ‘Whom so ever it may concern’ covers the DHC as well. When I said so, I am not referring to the judicial processes mandated for the DHC to fulfill. Those processes would any way be fulfilled. The message according to me is ‘Give LIC Pensioners’ what is due to them. After due process.
The ‘writing on the wall’ also told us (the original three Respondents as well as those others (like the Hyderabad Association who sought and got a right to speak before the DHC) to do some hard homework and get a ‘singular judgement, so that its validity can be adjudged’ (by us).
Such a message is full of significance and responsibility cast on us from day one. What different Petitioners before DHC did between 31 March 2016 and 21 February 2017 is a part of history. More of it will be known hopefully by 31 March 2017 when Justice Sanjiv Khanna’s verdict will be handed down.
While we wait for the verdict, are we expected to just wait and do nothing else? In my view, NO. We, have work to do,
ALL THE PETITIONERS.
Allow me explain in ‘While we wait for the verdict….Part 2’. I have plans ready to travel across the Country and interact with LIC Pensioners. Visakhapatnam on 14th, Bangalore on 17th and Kolkata on 22nd March are confirmed.
