Demise of Sri A.Balasubramanya Sastry, Pillar of RIEA Bengaluru & AIRIEF falls, Follow his footsteps in the sands of time

1)Destiny is destiny, death is certain.Sad to succumb, cancer is deadly & expensive to treat. But human life is valuable. Death ends all relations. Friends, relations, acquaintances &

associates mourn the loss. What a cycle it is,after various stages, one has to depart. This befell our beloved Sri A. Balasubramanya Sastry,VP,SCZ, AIRIEF on 31/3 /2017 afternoon,as

GS,AIRIEF, Sri GKrishnaswamy says .the disciple followed his leader Sri JMatthan who passed away same day in the morning. Old war horses, as we call, affectionately as Balu, what a

tremendous service he has rendered to Pensioners fraternity, it is legion, it is many-splendoured. Beauty is ,it is so difficult for organisations & especially Pensioners Federations  to get some volunteers to man particular & specialised jobs,

hard to handle. That was ,at the time of General Council Meeting  of AIRIEF,now 20 years young, to record the Minutes of the meeting, a big Register,Speaker after Speaker, after the

President calls the meeting to order,Agenda is read out,  a babel of voices, some slow, some fast, some mumbling,so difficult to immediately make entries, the Twins were S/Sri

A.Balasubramanya Sastry,multi-linguist,& veteran Thiruvanthapuram late  Sri Sankaran, calm & quiet & attentive ,good at figures too, both did a Himalayan work of  recording, with

humorous repartees & advices of Balu, 'a little louder please, dont repeat what earlier Speakers have told etc,' meeting gains momentum, both check up entries & all ok for a 2-day

session, nicely becomes a Fulcrum of collective wisdom, as it were. But for these spontaneity & acceptance, when called upon.volunteers like Balu are an asset to RIEA & AIRIEF during

all  these long association.

2)Balu was a simpleton, endears himself to all with his affection & smile, his language has a natural flow, words come from his heart, felicity of expression profound, & above all, always

free from acrimony & angry ,boisterous phrases. Sri GKrishnaswamy conveyed that Balu was a pioneer in many ways, 12 years as President of Bengaluru Assn, last 3 years as Patron.Sri

Nagaraj Ayya lovingly pays tribute saying that he was fortunate he was Secretary. & how Balu built up consistently Membership & finances.Such should be the qualities of a great

Leader,  to inspire, to instil & to enable all to play their part.We really miss his presence & aura.He had a halo around him, as a pleasing personality, mixing & mingling with all even

during Oct 2014 EC/GC Meeting of AIRIEF,which was so well organised in all respects.

3)I was fortunate to receive many emails from him on many matters, so diverse,He was large-hearted in his tribute. He appreciated any worthwhile events or concerts or prayers at

temples .Emails were crisp & short, suggested his own ideas for improvement.I pitched upon him & requested him to undertake an assignment as part of my endeavour to release the 52

page Kurukshetra Booklet, wherein one finds the painstaking, methodical work displayed by Balu. That Chapter was entitled "Chronological Compendium of Events & Court Verdicts &

Orders." True to his style,he did a marvellous job  ,with care & caution, devotion & dedication, in recording with meticulous care ,in sequential order. We find such pensioners with

specialised skills are not easy to find. He was a gem of the purest ray serene. Exquisite & Wonderful Compendium from Board Resolution 14 November 2001 to Oct 2012 SC  happenings

& Orders as a historical perspective & treatise  of sterling success.

4)To quote Balu,  "Pious intentions apart, practical consideration should be the need of the hour.Once again I

repeat that all the Pensioners, irrespective of their affiliations ,should continue their support solidly to realise the fruits of this long struggle " A. Balasubramanya Let these words ring in

every pensioners ears & let us all take it as our sacred duty to ensure complete Pensioner Unity without any dissent or dissonance. That will be our sankalpa today to fulfil his wishes &

tread the path he has outlined legitimately.

May his soul rest in peace.May the Almighty shower enough courage & fortitude to his family to bear this irreparable loss. The impending victory of all pensioners in DHC & later in

Supreme Court must be the greatest Tribute to respect his utterances

Mournfully,
