Ecircular No.DK/12 27-02-2018
Friends ,
It has been a while since we communicated last. One of the reasons was that there wasn't much of a movement around our matters. Now we are glad to report that the Legal Committee consisting of Sri G N Sridharan, Sri R Rajagopalan, Sri Basudeb Das , Sri M Arunachalam met in Chennai on the 23rd of Feb, to discuss and draft the Rejoinder to the Counter Affidavit filed by the LIC in the Supreme Court on the 12th of Feb 2018. Sri V K Jain, our Legal Committee member from Delhi, although could not be present, was available for consultations where needed. Apart from the L C members Sri Sivakumaran Secretary, Chennai Assn, Sri V R Krishnan, EC member and the undersigned were also present during the meeting.
After day long discussions on different points of view expressed by the members, it was agreed that in place of the individual drafts brought by the Legal Committee members, a common draft based on the consensus of views would be drafted by sri G N Sridharan and Sr M Arunachalam. Accordingly , after a whole day of sustained efforts on 24th , saturday, the draft was finalised and sent to our Advocate on record in Delhi on the morning of Sunday the 25th , by e mail. The draft thus sent will be finalised by our Counsel at Delhi and is expected to be filed in the Supreme Court in two or three days, well in time for the Hearing slated for the 5th of March.
This morning, as we referred to the Cause List of the Supreme Court for 5th March, 2018, our SLP , 21206 of 2017 was not to be found listed for that day! The matter is being referred to our Advocate at Delhi to get further information, after which we will know the exact position. As it stands, Sri G N Sridharan, Chairman Legal Committee and Sri M. Arunachalam are booked to travel to Delhi on the 4th of March. After confirming the correct details regarding the date of Hearing, the travel plans may need to be tweaked if necessary to suit a different date. Just as I am writing the circular it is learnt that the date of hearing will be 12th March 2018. The travel plans of the legal committee will now be modified.
Meanwhile, we are glad to Report that three of our Activists, Sri G N Sridharan, Sri R Rajagopalan, and Sri O P Vasisht, were honoured as Past General Secretaries of the Class I officers' Federation, in a grand Function arranged at Hyderabad on the 19th of February to mark completion of 60 years of the in-service Federation. Sri Gunasagar of Hyderabad, one of the past General Secretaries too was honoured.
Taking advantage of the opportunity , these Activists of our Federation had an informal meeting with the Hyderabad Association members , with the help and active involvement of Sri Gunasagar who resides in Hyderabad. While we do not want to give out details of the meeting at this rather early stage, we would certainly say that there are positive indications, and we hope, these should, in good time, give us results. We appreciate the initiatives in this behalf , of Sri Gunasagar, who helped organise such a meeting, and our own three senior Activists who thought of taking it upon themselves to initiate such a step forward in this important direction, for the Federation.
Friends we will then wait until next time With Best Wishes
General Secretary
CHENNAI
