Reg: Payment of DR Arrears ..... Payment Stopped by CO

Friends,

There have been anxious enquiries from many of you as to the reason why the 'Stop Payment' instruction has come from the Central Office on the payment of DR arrears, after instructions to pay had been earlier received. There was some 'guess' that did the rounds briefly, saying it could have been due to the Date from which the Arrears are to be calculated, since many of us had protested to the CO that the arrears must be paid from 1998, the date of the first petition filed , which would be  as per the DHC judgment of April 2017, instead of 2007, as assumed now.

Though no clear information is, as yet, available as to the reason for the stoppage of payment, some sources say that the date reckoned for arrears payment, is not the issue. It is believed that some glitch in the Programme for calculation, is at the bottom of it, and that it is likely to be cleared, for payments to start, very soon.  We shall come back with more information, once things become clearer.

I have just returned from Coimbatore today, after attending their Annual General Meeting this morning. Our former General Secretary Shri G.N. Sridharan also attended the meeting.

Happy to mention here that apart from Chennai Assn which was the first one to send Rs5000 for the Kerala Flood Relief, Coimbatore has also hastened to send 5000. Sri Anant Parida Vice President of the Orissa Unit informs me that they have sent Rs13000/- already. The Thiruvananthapuram Association has sent 15000, and its Secretary, Rs50,000/- on his personal account! I understand from Sri T K Ravindran of Bengaluru Assn that they would be sending 10,000/- each for the Kerala and Kodagu Relief Funds by tomorrow.

As you may all be aware, the hill District of Kodagu in the State of Karnataka has also taken a huge knock in the same Monsoon that devastated Kerala, and the problems of the people there are very similar.

These are gestures worthy of emulation in a very deserving humanitarian cause.

          With Greetings
