Further info on Handbook

It is gratifying that the Pensioners' Handbook published on my personal initiative ,has been received well and appreciated by all my well-wishers in different places in the country.
I find that one well-meaning correspondent has observed  that the name of the publishers and printers is not available in the book.I would therefore clarify the position as follows:
Normally an author who hands over printing and publishing to an established book publishing house he need not pay anything in advance. They take the responsibility of selling the books and pay the author periodical royalty. In the case of the Handbook compiled by me and Shri CT Joshi, it being a material strictly meant for private circulation as clearly indicated in the cover  of the book itself no regular book publishers would take it. I had therefore to approach some DTP operators who will undertake the job of printing only and will not take responsibility of selling the books , unlike regular publishers. In our case I got the printing done on down payment with a commitment for a minimum of 500 copies. through an established and capable DTP house in Chennai viz M/S Japonica Printing Media .
In the circumstances detailed above I myself had to take up the responsibility of distributing/ selling the books.I had therefore chosen some of my friends (mostly my contacts during the long period of active involvement with the Federation of retired LIC Class1 officers' Associations.) and  I am grateful to those who came forward to help me in places like Delhi, Chennai,Bangalore, Lucknow , Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam ,Trissur etc.
We first got 500 copies printed as per minimum requirement and with all of them having been already distributed in bulk or singly, I am awaiting the second lot of 500 to be delivered early next week beginning on 7/12. As I cannot for obvious reasons go on ordering for re-print I will be stopping with the next awaited lot.
Regarding supply of copies individually at a price of Rs 125/- a piece I reiterate that the said facility was and is intended for the convenience of pensioners residing in remote areas and are not members of any Association.I had in fact approached all the Associations serving the LIC pensioners. Two of them undertook to receive copies in bulk of 10 or more copies, one is still considering my request and another one just not responded to my appeal at all.I therefore wish to make clear that with no clerical assistance available to me,I have to reluctantly convey my inability to entertain request for individual single copy supply from my dear retired colleagues at major centres of Mumbai,Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore & Kolkata. If anyone would like to have 10 copies or more taking the responsibility of distributing to individuals, in the said cities it will be welcome.
Thanking once again all those who have responded so for and with my best wishes to everyone.
