During the meeting, Shri Bandlish clarified that base policy of Rs. 2 lakhs worked out for retirees is with an object to provide affordable policy to all section of retirees. In order to keep the premium cost at the lowest level, certain caps on claims have been specified in the scheme . He further clarified that as per the understanding arrived, premium charges will be funded by banks either fully or partially which will be finalized after obtaining quotes from insurance company for the policy and after assessing total financial burden on banks on this count. Another policy on existing terms and conditions will continue to be floated and will be available to retirees on optional basis and entire cost of this one will be required to be borne by individual retirees as being done at present. The settlement arrived on group insurance by UFBU in the meeting of 19.07.2023 will help immensely in increasing the number of retirees participating in the scheme. Full operative details of the scheme will be available on completion of tender document on which IBA is presently working.
