A VERY SAD NEWS OF SHRI K M L ASTHANA PASSES AWAY

Highly saddened to know that Shri Krishna Murari Lal Asthana is no more with us. I know Shri KML Asthana from 2010, when the DR disparity and Pension updation case, filed by him was decided in petitioners favour by Jaipur bench of Rajasthan High Court. I exchanged a few notes with him when the judgment was challenged before the Divisional Bench and also referred for review in the Jaipur Bench. I got the opportunity to meet him personally in the meeting held at Jaipur in Oct 2010. After the SC judgment of 31/3/2016, we had detailed and long discussions analysing the reasons of our cases having been remanded to Delhi High Court. He provided me voluminous material on the issue of DR Disparity and Pension Revision related issues of LIC pensioners, which made me to comprehend the subject matter as well as our rules, regulations and instructions issued by the Chairman.

As told by himself, he was associated with the judiciary for a long time. He was expert in preparing the petitions, Affidavits and rejoinders etc. He was a very hard worker, fully committed to his goal.

Shri KML Asthana was the first person who pointed out the DR discrepancy and also took up the Pension revision with every wage revision through judiciary. He is the true crusader for resolving LIC Pensioners grievances. Credit of creating the awareness about the pensioners issues among the entire pensioners fraternity goes to Shri KML Asthana undoubtedly.

There were differences in our approach on the law points of our DR Disparity case/Pension Updation case, but I have always been paying him high respect and admiring his untiring efforts.

Shri Asthana's sad demise is an irreparable loss not only to his family but for the entire LIC Pensioners fraternity. I pray Almighty to grant moksh to the departed soul and give courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Om shanti.

M P Agnihotri.
