Family Pension Anomaly Chart as on 31.10.2023

October 2023 will be the first month when the family pensioners will start getting the full amount of revised pension  on revision of basic  family pension to  to 30% of last pay( except for the family pensioners who were already in that category before revision for others).Even though most of the family pensioners will be getting double the amount of family pension they were drawing before 11/9/2023, they are also victims of non-upgradation of pension with every wage revision just like retirees with only the difference that their percentage of monthly losses is lower than that for retirees.
I attach the Chart of Family Pension anomaly also showing the percentage of family pension to regular pension in a separate table.
The monthly loss ranges from 10% to 10.4% for the family pensioners of the  latest group of  deceased retirees and from 34.8%  to 39.1%  39.1% for the family pensioners of the earliest group of  deceased retirees. This compares with the monthly loss  ranges of 16.6% to 17.3% and 58.1% to 73.2% for retirees.
The increase in the rate of family pension recently granted  not only brings out the gross injustice suffered  by family pensioners  all these years , but also the aggravated situation for pensioners at large on account of non-upgradation of pension along with every wage revision as evidenced by another anomaly where 60 positions of retirees across all cadres are superseded by 340 positions of family pensioners of deceased retirees/employees  of same cadre or lower cadres of later retirement periods under inter-wage revisions.
Although we have brought the glaring anomaly to the notice of LIC, we need to wait for a favourable judgment under the SLPs pending in the Supreme Court.Let us hope for good luck on 31/10/2023.
