Subject: LIC SEPTEMBER ANNIVERSARY, 1st  SEPTEMBER 2024, 68th ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS

A )1)In his speech, the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru said that ‘insurance is now a state concern’. Our ancestors thought and implemented this concept  several thousand years ago. In Mahabharata King Yudhishtira said to his younger brother Bhim:

योगक्षेमश्च राष्ट्रस्य धर्माधमौं त्वयि स्थितौ ।

मुच्यस्व महतो भारात्यगमेव अभिसंश्रय ।।

        "The Yoga and the Kshema of the nation as also the good and evil of subjects are reposed in you. You may (when time comes) get rid of this colossal burden by resorting to renunciation" (Mahabharata- Shantiparva. 12-18)

         2)And, now after 68 years of nationalisation,  life insurance has played a pivotal role in nation building. This is despite the fact that still there is a vast uninsured populace in the country and high protection gap.

          3)On this historic LIC Day and on the first day of ‘Insurance Week’, we wish that we become free from insecurity, as our ancestors prayed in Vedic age:

अयं सु तुभ्यं वरूण स्वधावो हृदिस्तोम उपश्रितश्चिदस्तु।

शं नः क्षेमे शमु योगे नो अस्तु यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः।।

"Oh God Varuna, full of food (through Ahutis), I am offering this hymn to you with a prayer to secure it in your heart.  With your blessings may our Kshema and Yoga ( be permanently protected) continue undisturbed"

 embracing many human disciplines & performances  give a distinct flavor .  .HANDSOME is that 

 HANDSOME DOES.LIC  has done all in a very HANDSOME manner & earned laurels& tributes from all

 quarters

7)It is our ardent belief & sincere suggestion that  a STANDING MONUMENT of WORKMANSHIP,QUALITY ,SKILLS to be utilized as a POWERFUL  Force to catapult LIC with its myriad HUMAN RESOURCES on ALL FRONTS to perform a HERCULEAN TASK, ---GOOD, BETTER, BEST , BETTER THE BEST, &  PLAY YOUR PART, PLAY IT WELL & PLAY TO WIN  Danglers.

b)Prepare on war footing a COLLAGE of PUBLICITY like the bee-hive smart at every BO/DO centres.

c)secure a never-to-forget DVD/CD with some scintillating, inspiring, humorous stereophonic voice footages .It goes without saying commentary should be in Regional & English languages to reach the nearest & the farthest,

   B ) 1)Born on 1st Sep,1956,LIC,from an infant.grew to boyhood,then adulthood.a Giant,celebrated the Golden Jubilee on 1/9/2006,has earned ever so many accolades,  ‘ a jewel in the crown, a world-class organization’ .Its Logo & Emblem-Yogakshemam Vahamyaham—Thy Welfare is Our Responsibilty--became household memory. ’In the humblest of homes,our flame burns bright & Hands that protect,Hands that serve’ ,are no idle boasts.

           2)We are all LICians first & LICians last.Live your Dreams, don’t dream your life ,Convert Dream into Vision.Insure & be Secure,We know Indiabetter,Zindagike sath bhi, Zindagikebadbhi .LICians dream, they envisage vision,LIC itself is an ensemble of Raga,Bhava,Thala of employees,field force & policyholders/stakeholders. Privatisation & competition have only added grit & determination enabling LIC to emerge stronger & be adored as a respectable & undisputed  Market Leader. As a multi-dimensional organization, LIC has the potential, power & potency to don  this new Avatar, don it must & don it will.

3)I used to term our LIC human resources as an assorted Brittania Cream biscuits, take any discipline, Actuary, Accountant, Engineer,Underwriter,Personnel & HRD  Experts,Trainer,Marketing Experts, Dynamic Agents  & Vibrant Development Officers & Field Force, Humane Policy servicing Administrators,right from proposal to Policy to Claims,Symphony in Architecture as Sri Ghadiali used to describe then LIC Buildings,so Architects , IT Experts,name any, LIC has a distinct resource base that merrily carries through higher & higher. This is LIC’s crowning glory.   

4)Staggering Total Income,Booming,Solid Life Fund,ever-growing surplus, a Maharathna in reality, a True National Gigantic Institution in every sense of the term, unalloyed praise from every quarter,Awards & Accolades galore.Former FM Sri PChidambaram thundered, there is no better 3-letter word than  L I C. Sri Arun Jaitley(late) ,when he visited “Yogakshema” on 9th January,2015, observed, ‘the Country depends on LIC  to a great extent.             5) It is a matter of great pride for all of us that our esteemed Organization completes  68 yrs of its leading existence on 1st Sept. 2024. We, the Retired Employees have worked hard and contributed our best to build this wonderful organization.  Hence, we all feel enormous pleasure in celebrating the Anniversary of our lovely institution LIC OF INDIA –“PRIDE OF INDIA”. A  celebration is a distinguished landmark in the journey of any organization. LIC maintains its leadership and No. 1 position of 67%in Policies & 63% in Premum income,even after 24 yrs of long competitive era.

Peoples’  Money for Peoples’  Welfare-- Bahujan Hitay Bahujan Sukhay , LIC  as a nation-builder touches peoples life in all spheres, thro sound investment in power,watersupply, transport, ,infrastructure, industry, agriculture, land mortgage banks, & Regional Ruralbanks .LIC rural spread is significant & spectacular.             

6)LIC has always been praised by our National Leaders not only for spreading message of life insurance in every nook and corner of country but also for its extraordinary contribution in the growth and development of our Nation. The statistics and records prove beyond doubt that LIC has catapulted  by leaps and bounds and is known as a trans-nationally competitive Financial Conglomerate of significance to Societies.  LIC’s presence is worldwide. 7)The Corporation always exhibited its firm belief, confidence and trust in its Human Resource which has been its biggest strength. 

            8)Everybody,every Lician, every stakeholder must avidly know & appreciate the Voyage of discovery LIC performs to the fullest satisfaction every year. Entire Team  must  ensure spectacular Himalayan heights of achievement to be etched in letters of gold in recordBooks & enshrined in the hearts of LICian as an Ambassador & Public Relations Manager to publicise & propagate  ,to make the awesome work of LIC Offices understandable & break any barrier or adverse opinion wrongly created,if any.

9) i)The story of the Indian financial sector  cannot be spelt without LIC &we LICians are proud of our contributions . Beginning from a modest capital base of Rs5 crores ,&about 43 lakh policies , we have reached a stage where the number of our policyholders is more than the population of many populated countries in the world. 

                          *Total income is ₹8.53 trillion ( 1 trillion = 1 lac Crore) .There are 260 working days in a year .Per day income is ₹3283 Crore.  Per hour ₹500 Crore

                 **LICs Q1 2024-25  Net Profit rises by 10% to Rs10,461crores

10)Sir, Stupendous story portrayed truthfully ,you will agree,that Every Chairman all through express in unequivocal terms the crucial role played by Seniors who retired after full service ,with Devotion & Dedication enabling LIC to earn coveted Distinction & admirted & appreciated by all Groups of Customers for the Meritorious Services rendered to every Limb of society.When Other Employees ,you rightly took up their cause, voiced your emphatic views,placed the proposition before Hon FM, pleaded strongly & broke the suspense  of Wage Charter,lifting with your suave manners to unprecedented 17% wage rise,which indeed is a Testimony of your Conviction to bestow Blessings on them. How can you then ignore or forget the forlorn Pensioners,with parched Pension,static for decades,22,500 already dead & are dying,mortality high,Time is of the Essence for them,all are aware,BUT SAME EMPATHY not displayed,as abundant Anamolies exist,Seniors getting lowere pension than  their Juniors,7 steps below,Discrimination between Pre 8/1997 pensionrs,WORST SUFFERERS,SIR, getting a Pittance of Pension so low,abominable,Why VOICE OF REASON SILENT,we are in tears,Class I Officers were deprived of WAGE REVISION 1973-83 ,unprecedented,YOU Sir ,time has come to Remedy all the ills & Sufferings faced , PLEASE go all out displaying EMPATHY,that time has arrived Sir,with pangs & tears,I pen this GENUINE DISCREPANCY be with your MAGNANIMITY ,RESOLVE & EARN OUR GOODWILL & GRATITUDE .

Sir, i)when our Fedns met you months before, it was mentioned Age-Related Pension for Super -Seniors 80,85,90, 95 & 100  ,be granted 20%,30,40,50 & 100 % Iin Basic Pension,can this NOT be approved & released  ? Some solace can come.

Even when Govt wants to allow for earlier Ages 65,70 & 75 year Pension rise of 5%,10% & 15 %  in Basic Pension, allow the declining tribe to benefit .It is pertinent to point out that FAMILY PENSIONERS ratio to REGULAR Pensioners has gone up from 20%  to 50 % & OUTLAY will ghet reduced,Sir.

    ii) PENSIONERS pension ,large portion is whittled down due to Denial of Domiciliary & groaning under burden of Doctors Consultation ,Medicines,Injections, for both Pensioner & Spouse with repeat visits to Doctors for cure ALLOW SAME CASH MEDICAL BENEFIT PER ANNUM as is being paid to Employees ,this will earn UNIVERSAL PRAISE for LIC Magnanimity as ALREADY we have paid the price 

     iii)more liberal interpretation of Group Mediclaim Conditions,some frivolous ,must be left to be resolved then & there,without Dogmatic consideration of letter & spirit of PROVISION,Affecting the weakest link FAMILY PENSIONER,who does not get WHATEVER Sum Assured she wants,as she cannot afford next lower OSA etc

      iv)August Month Pensioners are in tenterhooks as Life Certificate has to be submitted..WITH ALL LICDIGITAL & Jeevan Sakashay ,internet speed,traffic,delay, All not able to give Physical LC Certified,Many disbaled & bedridden ,stipulated time hard to respond ,ALLOW Video calls to Pension CELL,OS Dept,with verification of select data,easily 100s can be secured as Verification process GENUINE, & peace CAN PREVAIL,PENSION PAID ,WHAT MORE SIR, 

   Certainly, Grief-stricken Pensioners must desevedly experience the JOY of Positive Thinking & Positive solution

Even Meals Coupon for Employees 9/2010 started to Now Rs 250 crores to Rs 650 cr per annum WE dont have any allowances ,mere DR  ONLY .LET OPTIMISM & REALISM prevail to fully resove all grievances of Pensioners

  v)That we pensioners also contributed our mite & strength to build this organization from scratch, as it were,laid a strong ,stable Foundation, built the edifice, then the superstructure,and enabled LIC to earn encomiums, accolades thro its myriad achievements is an everlasting tribute to us as also all employees of LIC ,creating a synergy of its own & musical Symphony of Raga, Bhava & Thala .Do we not portray the protecting 2 Hands ,flame burning brightly, all homes lit with insurance cover and happiness & what an Emblem & Logo, unrivalled ,permanent Brand created, not only market share but also Mindshare LIC has cornered so adroitly & professionally.

 Activities of LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation, International operations, achievements of IT/SD Dept, IT/BPR Dept make us proud,we are 2nd to none in IT thrust & forward-looking & making all operations of all Depts so light, so fast, so swift,earning customer & stakeholders goodwill,& enhancing our image & public relations.
