One comment had been written for 3rd prior article on the same subject. One should think of 80% poor Indian families as well as "Mole people of USA" worst than India's poor. Indians also should think of why their Gods had not ended discrimination among them for the last10000 years and a political ideology of welfare "From cradle to cremation ground" disappeared after 7 decades and could not resurrect nearly 4 decades and no hope of egalitarian society. The simple reason is "SELFISHNESS".
Why mole people live underground below Las Vegas gambling capital of capitalist utopia of USA? AI mode:
People, often referred to in media as "mole people," live in the storm drainage tunnels beneath Las Vegas primarily because they are homeless and seek shelter from the extreme desert weather and a place to avoid law enforcement and public scrutiny.
Reasons for Living in the Tunnels
Extreme Weather Protection: The tunnels provide refuge from the scorching summer heat, which can exceed 120°F (49°C), and the cold winter nights when temperatures drop below freezing.
Lack of Affordable Housing: Rising housing costs in the Las Vegas area have displaced many people who cannot afford rent, pushing them into homelessness. Limited availability of shelter space also forces individuals to find alternative places to stay.
Seclusion and Safety (Perceived): The underground environment offers a hidden location away from the busy and highly policed Las Vegas Strip, allowing residents a degree of privacy and protection from some surface-level dangers. Some form loose-knit communities for shared security.
Desperation and Personal Struggles: Many tunnel inhabitants struggle with untreated mental illness, substance abuse disorders, or have lost everything due to a variety of reasons, including job loss or gambling addiction. The tunnels can be a last resort for those who do not want to or cannot follow the rules of traditional shelters.
Dangers and Challenges
Life in the tunnels is extremely dangerous, with constant threats including:
Flash Flooding: The primary function of the tunnels is flood control. When it rains, even miles away, water can rush through the tunnels at high speeds, giving residents little to no time to escape and causing deaths.
Health Hazards: Unsanitary conditions, the presence of rodents and pests, and limited access to medical care lead to significant health risks.
Crime and Violence: Despite community bonds, inhabitants face risks of violence and theft within the tunnels. (One can see the pitiable condition on any number of videos in "YOU TUBE".)
