📢LIC Employees not only work ,but they live for LIC -Profound Statement from Prof Noel Machado🚩🚩
(There are countless ordinary Employees who created Trust in LIC amongst Indians at large & who are acting as Brand Ambassadors for LIC.)
Brands are not built by those who are at the helm of affairs or the top management but by those who are in contact with the customers at grass-root level. It is the employees who build Brands and here is a live case...
It was in 1983 when, as a young Direct Recruit Officer in LIC, I was undergoing Training at 962 Branch, Nashik (Maharashtra), there was one Senior Assistant (HGA) named Sharad Gokhale in Policyholder Servicing (P.S.) Dept of the Branch. He was a very sincere and devoted worker and was also my mentor during my formative days in LIC, Nashik.
One day, a lady came to him with a Policy Bond of her husband with a request to get Surrender Value.
Gokhale asked her, "Why do you want to Surrender the Policy?"
" My husband lost his job as he is suffering from TB and we are finding it difficult to make both ends meet"
"Where is he at present?"
"He is unable to climb the staircase and hence I have made him sit at the entrance on the ground floor"
Gokhale carried with him the necessary forms to get his signatures. Out of curiosity I joined him. We met the policyholder who had become so frail and weak that he was just a skeleton. He took his signatures on the Loan Forms instead of Surrender Forms. When I asked him the reason for the same, he just smiled. He asked the lady to follow him. He offered her a chair and said,"Instead of taking Surrender Value of about Rs 10,000/-, I am advising you to take Loan against the Policy, which will be about Rs 9,000/- Please follow my advice. Don't let the policy lapse. Even if you don't have money to pay the next premium which is falling six months hence, please come to me. I will help you to keep the policy in force."
She agreed. He asked her to sit for a while, completed the paper work and gave her the cheque.
After a month or so, the lady was again in office and this time, her forehead was missing the Red Bindi. She met Gokhale with Death Certificate of her husband. He helped her in filling the Death Claim Forms, calculated the Net amount payable after deducting Loan with interest and gave her a cheque for about Rs 20000/-
She was virtually in tears seeing the amount on cheque which she got ONLY because of proper advice of Gokhale.
Who was Gokhale then? Just a Senior Assistant in LIC. But the employees like Gokhale have helped LIC in Building Brand.

We, a large number of newly recruited first batch of Assistants in 1957 and thereafter at Vellore to replace unit employees compulsorily put there on nationalisation transferred to places of their choice did a lot of service to the policy holders and a large number of LIC employees themselves from all over India visiting the office for number of help in connection with the treatment even at that time famous speciality Hospital Christian Medical College regarding their stay, with talking with specialists and even finance ie., collecting small amounts from our side for their urgent need to be retuned later by them when there was no modern facility for anybody for any thing before 6+ decades. Most of them were bachelors happy to help rather never considered as hindrance. This kind of help is continued for decades and I heard such things are being done even this day when modern facilities such as Corporate Hospitals, Hotel bookings thro' internet including cashless Mediclaim, NEFT, UPI are easily available.
