To, All members affiliated to AIRIEF through Units..........

The Supreme Court has gone for vacation to open after the official retirement of Jus.JK Maheshwari on 28th June 2026. As a last minute initiative, we 2 ex-officio members and the LSG members assembled at Delhi on 28th April as a meeting with Sr Counsel NG was lined up by Adv. RKS.

On 29th as was fixed, we met Mr NG and enquired of our case status. What he indicated during the course of talks that our case file in very ripe stage of part heard is not released by the CJI Registry to the bench who heard the case else the judgement in all likelihood would have given the much awaited relief to 10s and 1000s of pensioners. On our enquiry what can be done, he said Mention can be made. Now since the bench will be reconstituted and the 2 new incumbent Judges would hear our case 'de novo' which would mean hearing of case afresh. Before parting from him, we have made our stand clear that we may not be in a position to continue with the same amount of fee as members are largely frustrated and have withdrawn from the donation to fight with the saying 'so near yet so far' standing true to us to which he smilingly said he would see.

Having said so, he assured us of continuing to take care of our interest and would avail of all available avenues to bring our case back on rail. As soon as the SC opens after the vacation, we shall advise for a Mention to be made. No call immediately is being given for donation to legal funds but members to be ready to come forward to donate should the need arise.

On 23rd May 2026, a meeting of all petitioners was convened at Hyderabad by Shri PVS Nagaraja Rao of the Fed of Ret.Cl-1 Officers' Assn., Hyderabad unit. The meeting was attended by OBs of the Petitioner Association or their representative. Shri MP Agnihotri represented AIRIEF. Initially, AIIPA informed us that their representative would be attending this meeting but none attended. The meeting primarily was a "looking back exercise" of our case in the SC and discussed the erring of Sr Counsels while making their submission on 8th-9th October 2025. Two Sr Counsels assertively completed their submissions while Sr Counsel for the third petitioner could partly complete his submission. However, some of the points put forth prima facie appeared plausible on the surface but were incomplete, contradictory and  inaccurate which were brought to notice by some of the learned members also. The discussion built consensus that the Sr Counsel will be briefed well in future.

The meeting also deliberated over the Samadhan Samaroh -2026 being arranged by the SC for an out of Court settlement. Initially, all looked positive on  this and resolved  to take this forward through Lok Adalat. However, the AIIPA in 2024 approached Lok Adalat but had a dissenting opinion as LIC opposed on the ground that there are multiple petitioners and so it cannot be decided and so AIIPA resolved not to join. Subsequently, FRCL-IOA, a petitioner in our legal case informed the undersigned their resolve against joining. Since our case has multiple petitioners, it was mandatory for all to join. For the same reason, AIRIEF also decided to shelve the idea of joining the Lok Adalat.

The 13th Biennial General Council meeting is scheduled to be held at Mysuru on 10th-11th September (Check in at 1 PM on 9th Sept.2026, Checkout by 11 AM on 12th Sept 2026) who have besieged themselves with activities that would culminate in successful holding of the meeting. Our President Shri GK Garu along with 2 others have undertaken tour to Mysuru to take stock of the preparedness as also share his thoughts on overall going. Notice of this meeting will be released on 8th June 2026. Pl note that the Rly reservation opens 60 days before the scheduled date of journey.

It is equally pertinent to inform you that all communications related to the 13th GC meet will be posted in PST or AIRIEF OBs group. In case there is change in the names of PSTs, 8f any after the AGM of units, please inform Shri VK Johri, Dy Gen. Secretary, AIRIEF (Mob.94549-70724) for updating his records.

Just to remind the units who haven't yet paid the Affiliation Fee, please clear off the dues. As of now, little over 32 units have paid the due AF.

At the cost of repetition, the round of Zonal Council meetings are to be completed by 15th July and names to be conveyed to the undersigned. Needless to add, an amount of Rs.10000/- per participating unit is reimbursable on account of expenses for this purpose on submission of bills/vouchers

               With best wishes

                         Ranjan Dey Sarkar

                        General Secretary

https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/india-bloc-to-meet-tomorrow-a-regrouping-after-assembly-polls-dmk-walkout-11603609 DMK Gone, Trinamool Down, INDIA Bloc: Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party or AAP has already publicly distanced itself from the bloc: Leftists who are mentors of In-Service and pensioners of financial sector were enemies of dynastic party which headed "Indi alliance" for four decades supported corrupt UPA regimes without getting pension or its upgradation from the enemies of working class may also leave due to its utter defeat in Kerala, the last bastion. (A virulent anti-Modi attitude for a decade now had destroyed the TU movement in India after the demise of its ideology both in ex Soviet Union and China and could no resurrect it even after 3 and 5 decades respectively. A million retirees of financial sector died in penury without pension, while In-Service and present retirees fully absorbed Capitalist selfishness and greed in not accepting the rule of "Pension is undusbursed low wage during service" when a 15% increase in package every 5 year wage settlement for 3 decades.)

Daily Quotes-JK- Day 8:
Dissatisfaction · Escapes · Flame of discontent · Transformation:
Discontent is a flame that must be kept burning brightly, and not smothered by an interest or activity that is pursued as a reaction to the pain of it. Discontent is painful only when it is resisted. One who is merely satisfied, without understanding the full significance of discontent, is asleep; they are not sensitive to the whole movement of life. Satisfaction is a drug, and it is comparatively easy to find. But to understand the full significance of discontent, the search for certainty must cease. Apart from mechanical certainties, is there any certainty at all, any psychological permanency? Or is there only impermanency? All relationship is impermanent; all thought, with its symbols, ideals, projections, is impermanent. Property is lost, and even life itself ends in death, in the unknown, though man builds a thousand cunning structures of belief to overcome it. We separate life from death, and so both remain unknown. Contentment and discontent are like the two sides of one coin. To be free from the ache of discontent, the mind must cease to seek contentment-From Commentaries on Living Series 3
