Sub:155th Issue of EASTERN NEWS-SEPTEMBER 2026
Respected Members/Readers,
At the outset we wish all our members HAPPY LIC DAY on the 70th anniversary day of nationalization of LIC of India. It is our pride that LIC through its seven decades journey period has grown into a financial colossus synonymous with trust, security, and long-term financial planning.
In the Indian life insurance market, LIC maintains a dominant, market-leading position despite two decades of private-sector competition. It holds over 58–66% of the overall market share in total premiums and new business premiums, making it the undisputed leader in India's insurance sector. Beyond insurance protection, LIC serves as a key institutional investor in India's domestic economy, allocating substantial capital toward national infrastructure projects, government securities, and capital markets.
Globally, LIC stands among the top tier of life insurance providers. Ranked as the 4th largest life insurer globally by reserves according to S&P Global Market Intelligence and featuring prominently among the top 15 globally by assets under management, LIC outpaces many major multinational carriers. It is also consistently recognized by Brand Finance as one of the world's strongest insurance brands (presently 2nd strongest Insurance Brand Globally). Today, as a publicly listed entity with an expanding digital ecosystem and growing international presence across Asia, Africa, and Europe, LIC continues to balance its public welfare mandate with modern, competitive financial growth.
On September 11, 1893, Swami Vivekananda delivered a historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago. To commemorate this historical event that reshaped global perceptions of Eastern spirituality and introduced Indian philosophy to the Western world, September 11 is observed as Universal Brotherhood Day which sends a powerful reminder of harmony, tolerance, and human unity
His message was clear that is Tolerance and Universal Acceptance He emphasized that truth can be reached through many paths, illustrating this through the metaphor of streams originating in different places and merging into the same ocean.
In a present world fractured by conflict and disharmony, Swami Vivekananda's3 message of mutual respect and harmony remains profoundly relevant. The observance of September 11 celebrates the spirit of pluralism—reminding humanity that true spiritual progress lies in living together in peace and accepting diversity as a strength.
In the aforesaid inspiring spirit, we are pleased to present herewith the 155th Issue of September 2026 Eastern News featuring insightful analytical articles on topics especially related to September.
