India’s Independence came at an *immense cost* 😔
Over *20 lakh Hindus and Sikhs* were brutally killed and lakhs more were injured during Partition.
As an *11-year-old child* in Ludhiana, Punjab, I witnessed the horror firsthand - 🚂 trains arriving from Pakistan filled with the dead and wounded.
I still remember seeing a woman with a grievously injured breast, bleeding badly 💔 The refugee camps were scenes of unimaginable suffering 😢
Those who migrated to India lost everything 🏠💔
Yet with *unmatched courage, hard work, self-respect and faith* 💪🙏 they rebuilt their lives with dignity.
Today we remember their *sacrifice and resilience* 🌹🕊️
Let us *never forget* that horror.
Let us *honor their sacrifice* every *August 14* as *Partition Horrors Remembrance Day* 🇮🇳
