The expected and apprehended mess
has unfolded fully, soon after Case Nos 9 to 14 were all called up together,
being 'connected matters' .
LIC standing Counsel was standing
relaxed as he has nothing to be defensive about. Even his Sr Counsel was not
present.
Some new face appeared for Union of
India but had no answers for any of Justice Khanna's questions about what they
have done all these weeks. When the Counsel was silent, Justice Khanna had to
even raise his voice and ask 'Pl answer'. The issue is Govt which is not ready
in any manner is required to obtain extension of time beyond 31 Aug 2016, if it
wants to. Bench directed to approach the SC and come back on 31st. It was for
that purpose that the hearing is adjourned to 31st.
There was discussion about the files
not still received from Jaipur. At one point KML Asthana came forward and made
some submissions about the cases getting dragged etc., when the Judge said tell
your counsel. (his Advocate who came from Jaipur last time, was not
present.
After the matters got adjourned to
31 Aug, Hyderabad Counsel raised the Reply we filed to the Compliance affidavit
on 40% IR payment. Again there was reference to Jaipur's proposal last time to
approach Supreme Court for clarification on IR as per 3A. Our request
which our Advocate had rather pressed will also be taken up now on
31st.
So the wait continues for 48 hours
more.
