Shri P Ramamurthy (RIP)

It was with a deep sense of sorrow that I received the news of the demise of Shri .P Ramamurthy ,Retd officer of Bank of Baroda on 10 th instant Chennai.
Shri PR was an activist fighting for the causes of Bank retirees and was keeping constant liason with me. After retirement he was also, like me ,a practicing advocate in the High court of Madras at Chennai and we had occasion to meet very often . Because of him I could get an insight into the Various problems of bank retirees some of which are common to both banking and LIC pensioners. He had a high opinion of our federation and sought my help in steering an SLP in the SC relating to the issue of giving credit for the period of past service of some of the retired officers of BOB under specialist category. I had suggested the name of our counsel and the BOB' SLP was dismissed!
I thankfully recall that Shri PR and other friends of BOB had organised a special meeting in January this year at which not only myself but also the present GS of our federation Shri D Krishnan were felicitated. Not only that he brought out a colourful souvenir which carried even the bio-data and photograph of our counsel Shri Garg. What a magnanimous way of giving expression to one's sense of gratitude!!
May his soul rest in peace!!--
GN Sridharan
