MISSION ONE RANK - 0NE PENSION

Dear friends,

With in principle acceptance by Govt. for Defence forces and advance stage of similar decision for RBI employees, I have ventured to write on the subject of ONE RANK ONE PENSION to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with copies to Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley and Shri Arvind Panagariya, Vice-Chairman, NITI ( ex-Planning Commission) - professed as new think-tank of Govt. - as per copy attached.

My idea emanated from the fact that in this year's budget due next month, it is likely that Govt. is keen to announce some far-reaching people-friendly measures as per media reports. For senior citizens in particular and for retirees, the demand for OROP-one rank one pension- across all sectors of public sector is of great importance.

By chance at least by way of pointing out this dire need, on compassionate grounds, even if this idea finds some reference in the next budget, I believe, the purpose will be served. If RBI will be the pioneering spark, it should not be difficult to out-reach all other sectors in due course.

In any case, pension up-gradation is our priority and it appears this is achievable in near future with LIC apex court decision on the anvil. Next mission has to be OROP. Let us work towards this goal next.

SUBJECT : An earnest suggestion for BUDGET - 2015

On behalf of large number of PENSIONERS, 1000s of them, I being one of them, who are in the age group of 70 plus, i.e. having retired from Public Sector companies prior to year 2000, under various Ministries of Government of India, wish to make a polite and earnest submission as under:

a)      There are many anomalies in our pension structure, viz. No up gradation, no adequate linkage to high inflation with only 50% D.A. as against 100% in later years and so on.

b)     With the result, our current pension level at the highest cadre is almost 40/50% of  what pension is now paid to lowest level of retirees.

Your progressive outlook at the helm of Government is evident from the fact that many citizen-friendly measures have been announced from time to time.

You were kind enough to promise “ ONE RANK, ONE PENSION” during your General Elections campaign which you implemented for Defence forces.

Now that Union Budget 2015 plans are under way, our earnest request to your good self and Hon. Finance Minister is to provide for “OROP” i.e. ONE RANK ONE PENSION for all sectors of Public Sector retirees so that all anomalies are eliminated. For this kind gesture, we shall always remain grateful to you. This will also remove age-related and health related hardships faced by us in our old age with increasing costs all round.
