Dear Colleagues,
We humans are gullible. Our mind
always believes more easily what it already perceives. So is the
case with OROP. The air is so thick with expectation that we are easily taken
in whenever any positive signal is received from whatever source.
There had been a continuous stream of
incoming calls the whole of April 10. Most talked of what they had 'reliably' heard - that the PM had signed the OROP file shortly before
leaving for France. Some even gave out specific details: that the PM took just
one hour to deliberate and give his approval; that the arrears from 1.4.2014
will be given based on age-related slabs - with those above 80 years
getting all in one go, those between 70 and 80 getting in two instalments,
those between 60 and 70 getting in three instalments and those below 60 in
four. Such minute details made the information sound even more convincing.
Late evening I sought confirmation
from the office of the RM itself. Unfortunately, the information is incorrect.
The file is still with the Finance Ministry.
Let it not dampen our spirits. OROP
WILL come without any doubt. Let us keep our glasses polished and ready.
Best regards,
